Ask and we'll try our best to assist - so here's 2024 Provisional AFL Draft Order

As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

I'll also sticky this post to ensure it's easily accessible for discussion of our hypothetical trader

Also,

“There’s a fair chance that I wouldn’t be privy to these conversations” 🤣🤣
I reckon there’s an even better chance he has though!

After Jenkins joined us, didn't he say it was after catching up with Scott when both were in America?

If Smith nominates Geelong Mackie/Wells will make it happen. They pretty much have a perfect record in getting such deals done. Even got Ablett back eventually.
Thankfully not trying to bring in anyone else either.
They must be stoked that Humphries, Mannagh and Dempsey are killing it. All could have been round 1 picks in hindsight. Bowes+Clark landed in their lap 2 years ago for nothing too. Oh and Stengle cost nothing to acquire.
Gives us way more flexibility now to pay slightly overs at the trade table if needed as we’re not trying to plug all the retirement holes with R1&2 picks.

I'm sure it was the same on our board re: Tim Kelly but the Dogs board already has the "Geelong will screw us! Send him to the PSD" commenters
It's sadly predictable.

They're blowing up real early though. I think it's more about how well our season went than it is about the trade.

Their fear of loss at the trade table is, I think, combining with an urge to salvage some value from a season that would have come with high expectations given their list strength.

Give them some time to blow off steam

We got so lucky to land Humphries, Mannagh, Dempsey, Stengle and even Bowes. Clark on the other hand, I'm not sure about tbh, but it is still early days with him... But you can't complain with that hand, even if Clark is a bust.

it's split however most know he had checked out long ago and this is a formality. There's no point having a player at the club that doesnt want to be there, so now its between Geelong and the Dogs to get a deal of some sort done.

That could very likely end up being anywhere from pick 15-21 at best, depending on what happens with the finals, Ashcroft & Lombard.
Yeah I definitely think our first in isolation is unders and we'll give more. I think a 2nd.

Its not going to affect it in any way , but i read last week he was at the Bulldogs training sessions and all the rest of it leading into the Scrays 1st final

You get beaten Friday night , come Monday he puts in his clearance application , the loss is still pretty raw for the supporters at this stage , i think he should have waited another week

And FWIW , i dont think he is fit to lace up the boots of Peter Featherby who played in the centre for both the Bulldogs and the Cats and also won a Geel (81) Best and Fairest in that position .

People get invested. I saw on his insta a young dogs fan had tattoo'd her arm where he signed it once. She wouldn't be feeling good right now. Could probably turn it into a butterfly or something

Like all fan bases you have some extremes getting around, but for the most part you guys are pretty reasonable. Some have well and truly cast off the bowlines here though
I said on our board that I am not even pissed off that Bailey Smith is leaving because the writing so on the wall.

Putting it out there.
And you guys will blow up. I have no doubt.

But I wouldn't be surprised to find that we will build currency to get Reid in 2 years time.

So the Future 1st will be off the table.

I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Miers, Close, and at a very big stretch..... Dempsey being offered to someone.
we cant keep them all

I'm not rating Knevitt yet. But we need to hold him for a bit longer. Same goes with Clark.
No to moving on Humphries if thats even in anyones mind. He can fill too many holes as he progresses.
I would not think trading out Dempsey for Smith would be even remotely considered

I know they got knocked out before us but they are still going to be very okay. Sanders is a better player than Smith and they've got him to improve on this year, Darcy to be even better next year. It stings when anyone wants out of your club but if he was staying, I'd be interested to know what that would've looked like and whether by the end of next year they'd have wished he was traded this year.

100% they are traveling extremely well in a list management space. Ed Richards has been a revelation, I've been jealous since draft day they got Sanders.

They need a small forward, if I was them I'd ask for Mannagh
