People get invested. I saw on his insta a young dogs fan had tattoo'd her arm where he signed it once. She wouldn't be feeling good right now. Could probably turn it into a butterfly or something
Probably easier to become a Cats supporter than get the tattoo removed if you ask me.

By the time Reid's available future trading will be installed into the landscape.

Could literally trade 3 years worth of picks if we wanted to. Whether it's a smart investment is another matter, but the point is that we could.

You don't trade the players you mention when that's going to be an option. Give me proven performers over the magic beans when we're trying to bring in a superstar any day of the week.

You add Reid to Dempsey, Humphries, Smith, Holmes, Bruhn, COS, SDK, Clark, Neale, etc and reap the premiership rewards.

He's 194cm. If he played backline against Port last week he'd be the tallest defender in the back 6 bar Blicavs.
Yes. Plus he is a good mark and kick, so ideal for a defender.

I am stunned Davies has signed on for two more years. Hardwick spins so much s**t. Can’t help but think he’s promised him a permanent midfield role and Davies is going to end up regretting it and wanting out next year and by then we would have found someone already in place of him. Bizarre player management.

Disappointed. Really thought he was going to be a nice piece. But others are still happening and the Smith news today as unsurprising as it was, is a nice touch.

Appreciate your posts.

What others have you heard that could be happening?

How confident are you that we'll land the 'others'?

Miers, Close and Dempsey are going nowhere.

It will be done in draft picks, it always is.

But if it was our first rounder this year plus a player involved that people wouldn't like losing, the one that would make the most sense is Mannagh. Immediately kicks out one of the spuds the Dogs pick at the back end of their 22. Mannagh was a dogs fan and I'm sure he would take a 3 year deal with a good pay bump in year 2 and year 3 once his original draft contract expires given the short time he has to make hay. From our POV trading a player from an area of strength (small forward) for a player from an area of weakness (midfield) could be absorbed and the main thing for me is maintaining our future 1st. ducks incoming from pure ownage
Honestly, you wouldn't want to lose Mannagh. The big time player. 13 score involvements last weekend, he had his hand in many scoring shots... He made the opposition looks seriously 2nd rate

****en Gutted!!
We were balls deep.
WTF.? He would have been a great get.

Do you think he's that good?
I kind of figure that if he can't break into a team that continually languishes mid table every year, he's going to struggle to break into most of the better teams (including ours). He's been in the system four years now.

From the article:

"Geelong is also in the market [for a new high-performance boss], with physical performance manager Scott Murphy departing at the end of the season for a role at Rugby Australia."

I didn't know that.
We enquired about Burgess but he’s apparently staying in SA.

Yeah I reckon he is.
2025 if he gets decent midfield time he’ll shine into a very good inside bull.

Who do you reckon? Still the Garcia, Tsatas, Macrae types?

I legit think Mannagh is more valuable than Smith. I’d be gutted to let him go.

^Spends life searching for a B Smith to marry. :)

Woukd we be interested in getting Macrae in the Smith deal?

I like Macrae. Big body, tough, smart footballer. Is he a superstar? Nope, but he's been going about it under Bontempelli's shadow.

He'd be a good guy to run through the midfield and help out the younger boys. Gives Dangerfield more time to rest (if he goes on) and means we can be versatile with Stewart too.

It might also 'ease' the pain of losing Smith for our first rounder if they can off-load his big contract, too.

Watching CS deny knowing about Smith was a hard watch.

The guy is usually the smoothest operator in the AFL via the tongue but was in all sorts when quizzed on Smith.

Sort of feel for them though. How many pages did we devote to the Tim Kelly and wife drama, some nasty business said there. Supporters/media should just be resigned while all the machinations going on.
At least we'll be the second last to know- someone better call Scotty.
