On what metric is he currently AFL quality. Runs fast but leaks goals. We have been forced to offer Bews a contract as this guy is so hopeless
Taboo topic on here. Can't call a spade a spade with OM.
As for Jed. Leave my boy alone now, you hear me. :madv1:

And Holmes dominated the couple of VFL games he played directly out of High School football.

This is also why some of us are worrying about Clark.

That's fair. Clark was pretty dominant in his first few VFL games this year when he went back from AFL level. Not Holmes or Dempsey dominant though.

The way he was played late in the year and in VFL finals was a bit strange. He had an ultra defensive role off the back side of stoppages. It was like the role he was playing at AFL level. I thought his defensive work was exceptional and he showed great moments the rare times he got the ball but it's hard to win the ball when you're not at the contest.

We as fans may be interested but would the club?

It seems common knowledge we enquired about him last year at part of the Ratugolea trade, but he said no

If we've previously made an approach & been rejected, would we make another approach?
With JL going to Port and they probably still 4 Key Forwards who are option to play there, 11 months later he might have 2nd thoughts being at Port 🤷‍♂️

I watched both VFL finals. Hardie and Parfitt were awful. Completely lacking any composure and shanked kicks forward when put under pressure. They were both found out by the step up in pace and pressure.

In both games we only started to look competitive when they moved out of the midfield and were pushed forward in the second half.
And the disappointing side note of their performances was, Clark stuck in the back pocket and Clohesy stuck at half forward, neither suited to those roles and given little opportunity to impact either game.

Weird post.

I saw OM do a good job on JHF in the QF and then have probably the best game of his career in the PF. That left foot pass to Close for Henry's first goal of the last was absolutely elite.
Bloke averaging 21 and a goal is kept to 19 and a goal. #taggedoutofit

I have been consistent all season, I am not saying he's crap and we should send back to Ireland. He is just not ready, should have played VFL and we look again after another preseason.

There's weird cults for players on here.

For years stating Parfitt was average at best was a no no. Now he's delisted his drafts thread has Oppo fans stating the bleeding obvious about him not being up to it.

Ned Reeves hold any interest for us? Would come cheap and played VFL for most of the season with the Hawks preferring Meek.
Not saying yes or no.
But with Stanley and Blicavs soon to exit the list would we be more interested in a more mobile style ruck rather than an even more cumbersome player than Conway?

Now you're just talking crap to defend your preconceived bias.

Mullin didn't follow JHF into midfield until the game was over (20 centre bounces to 6 for Mullin).

And the goal was brilliant defence by Mullin to a ball kicked to JHF's advantage followed by an unlucky bounce and poor effort by Blicavs. Putting any of the blame for that on Mullin is absolutely wild.

May have run his race with it being his first full year after his injury last year. And mentally when you have been in the team and you are on outside, that is deflating.

I am not writing him off, it was just a worrying few games in the finals I thought.

A 21 year old who kicked 4 goals in a final and stood up when others didn’t.
Disagree strongly

He’s got talent and way too early to call him VFL talent.

Also tough and strong at the contest, not sure what your basing this off

That was a good game. But it's also only 1 game. TBF he's also only kicked 16 goals in 14 SANFL games the last 2 years. So there's also an argument that he hasn't even really performed that well at the second tier. I'm not writing him off, but I can see why others aren't super enthused when his seconds form is similar to Phoenix Foster who we just delisted.

And the disappointing side note of their performances was, Clark stuck in the back pocket and Clohesy stuck at half forward, neither suited to those roles and given little opportunity to impact either game.

It was unbelievably frustrating seeing Parfitt and Hardie repeatedly cough it up and have Clark sitting off the back of the contest trying to disrupt a wave of Southport players coming the other way.

At least Clohesy could come up to the contests as an extra mid once the ball was in play and he did that very well against Werribee. I would've been so frustrated if I were Clark.

You're both overstating Mullin's influence, and underestimating Hardie's.

Look, Hardie wasn't elevated for some reason (presumably either disposal or defensive cover), but that doesn't mean you need to overstate one contribution and underplay the other.
I read your stuff here and think how can one person's views on this club be so diametrically opposed to mine and then all of a sudden you do this. Spot on.

I'm talking if we were offered 2x top-10s for SDK, not one.

Yes I know #6 has been trash for years.

And also just like the way whoever traded those picks for us turned picks into a player... we could also use them for a player if needed.

Maybe Butters becomes gettable.
Maybe we use one on a good kid and then trade the other for an F1 with the idea of using it in a Cadman or Reid deal.
Maybe we use both on kids we like.
Maybe we kick both down the road for another draft.
Maybe we split one and get a handful of solid draft picks in this apparently very deep draft.

2 top-10 selections would open up so many opportunities for us.

Yes I don't want to lose SDK but there comes a time when the offer is possibly too good to refuse.

We also would need to take into account if we believe SDK is going to stick around long term... If we had a sense he might go, or a sense that he might not end up the player we had hoped (they won't say this ut loud to us) then getting two top-10s for him would be a good deal to consider.

I doubt anyone offers anything near that for him though.... Maybe one top-10 but not two.
Who would give us two top 10 picks for SDK though ?

I think when/if he adds some more muscle and general body maturity, his confidence will rise and he will be a very handy AFL footballer.

Blame for the goal is plainly inserting words into my mouth. On the night or now.

I just think his influence on JHF is overstated.

At a pinch Stkilda.

But if SDK is happy and committed I'm not trading him no matter what. If he wants out though I'd lean towards trading him now because he's got huge value which could evaporate in a year's time if he struggles.
