I would rather trade in gws reserves players than keep our own reserves player.

He was a crows reserves player all year because your training standards were so shit under MM and he needs 12 months in our program to get him up to AFL standards

My prediction is Adelaide trade pick 13 to GWS, GWS trade Marchbank to Carlton, Carlton Trade Gibbs to the Crows. Carlton clearly want to use pick 13 for Marchbank otherwise the deal would already be done with their pick 5.

Front loading of the contracts is something that clubs come forward with to manage thier cap from year to year. I highly doubt that would have been a big part of the negotiations butother than that, yes Justin Reid was Gibbs' manager until about 12 months ago.

None of those players will be involved as it would be a nett loss and why would we do that. Looks like he is staying at carlton as their would be a board spill if we traded any of the players mentioned which they know full well we won't. They are also seeing if we are so silly to do that for gibbs. Gibbs only has himself to blame. If he really wanted to be a crow which i truly believe he still doesnt he should have done it two years ago when he was out of contract. Stay at the blues and help rebuild the club, you owe them that much.

Lets do process of elimination...
Matt Crouch Brad Crouch - no chance, we are trying to strengthen our midfield so makes no sense to trade a starting midfielder, especially young ones.
Lever - no chance unless he requested it which seems unlikely. This would expose us down back short term and even more so long term.
McGovern, Cameron - manager already stated they have no interest. If any of these players were to be involved it'd be one of these 2 we would most likely budge on if we were really keen but I highly doubt it and unless they are happy to go its all moot as they are under contract.

I don't think Carlton will be waiting too long for us to review and begin talks again, I'm pretty sure they know where we sit.

Lever might like to go back home, I'd hope not, but you never know. With Doedee coming on and Keath and OTTO as depth, we could probably cover him. Wouldn't straight swap him though, would need something else coming our way.

That is not true. Adelaide has been in his ear all year (and the previous one). However, it was Carlton that floated this trade. It was first floated last years trade period but they were after a different deal back then.

You may be right, but it just seems odd that we would put much energy into a guy who knocked us back when he was a free agent and signed a long-term deal. You would think that would make Gibbs a low priority target unless he comes to the AFC to tell them things have changed.

Yes, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. I'm all for getting Gibbs/Rocky but I'm not giving up if we don't and PlayStation analysis tells us we don't have the magic '3 A grade mids'.

The same plowman who had no pre-season and still managed to have a decent year as a 21 y.o. Key defender, former no.3 draft pick.

Give him a full pre-season and he would play for most sides.

If we are.having this same conversation in a year, then you will be right.

I still have faith, as we discussed in pre-season he wasn't going to have full impact this season. I thought he would get in the team for the back half of the season when his fitness came up to speed, but several concussions along with byes prevented any continuity.

Hopefully he has an uninterrupted pre-season & reckon he will be in the round 1 team.

Has serious ability & confident he can apply himself too.
