System needs teams to appeal decisions like in cricket or basketball. Adelaide should have been able to appeal/review on the spot.

I also thought that every decision gets reviewed anyway. Couldn’t the guy watching in the arc stop the play and say hey that was a goal.

Cost Geelong too. They have an easy gNd next at the Cattery against The Dogs which they will win fairly comfortably.
If Sydney lose next week, it's going to cost somebody a finals spot.

Gil claims the system is fine. No it's not. Cricket can review no-balls for dismissals after a wicket, every goal is open to review before the bounce.

Even if it took thirty seconds and the ball is downfield, the ARC could call a review at the next stoppage.

Or the NFL system - all scores in the final two minutes are automatically reviewed.

Everyone talking like it has cost Adelaide a spot in the finals (a win would have taken them to 44 points)

meanwhile Sydney are now on 50 instead of 46 while GWS & the Dogs (if they win today) will be on 48

that f$#& up by the goal umpire isn’t going to cost Adelaide a finals spot - it’s going to cost the Giants.

What are you talking about? It’s likely to have cost them a finals birth as the crows play the Eagles in the last round the dogs play the cats away and GWS Play the blues at Marvel and the Swans play the Demons but have secured a finals berth. 8th spot was up for grabs.

Surely we can put to bed the claim that 'every score is reviewed'
Well it would have been. If it had been a goal

But we kicked out straight away and so, they didn't get a chance. They can't bring the ball back once in play. Would happen for every point scored so I guess your point stands. But I hate delays in play for no reason.

Likewise, all those saying Adelaide should get some points, that is not how the rules work. We had 50 seconds left, plenty of time for anything to happen. That doubt means the result cannot be overturned in any way.

Has anyone posted the south park "I'm sorry" meme yet.

How was it clear? The footage was choppy af. If the goal ump was sure it was a behind the review would have to show clear and obvious evidence that it was a goal. Doesn't matter that the footage we were shown has a gap the whole time, aslong as the camera footage is only at 1 frame per second it will always be inconclusive.
Mate even blind freddy could see a gap . It was 2 foot above the pad when it past the post when you look at the side view so the whole flicked the pad is BS

If nothing else hopefully for future games they change the rules so the ARC reviews all goals deemed behinds and behinds deemed out on the full. Would it work to give them 45 seconds (or however long they have after goals) to review a decision.

In this instance you wouldn't stop the game each time but that they could intervene when a howler has been detected and effectively restart the game from that point.

Otherwise one captain's challenge each per game?

If this is the case, Dangerfield still get his wish of 15-18 min quarters, and will get more stoppage in the game.

Amazing to see so many wanting there to be MORE reviews.

2 weeks ago everyone was complaining about there being too many, now people are saying they want every goal line decision reviewed?

Painful.

It’s already a massive random disadvantage to the team kicking in.

And an absolute pain in the arse for the viewer.

Be careful what you wish for.

It would be better… make every score reviewed … and play continues during the review…
If it was the correct call, play continues, if it was the incorrect decision then the time goes back to that decision.

Its clearly not negligence.

If I ram a car into a lamp post with a 200m run up screaming "Im gonna get you lamp post" the courts probably not gonna say it was a accident

Same applies here. This was 100% his intent and we all 100% know why that was his intent

Dancing around the issue and pretending it doesnt exist will get us nowhere
Umpire has been stood down for the rest of the season. It seems I was correct. He needed to call for a review and did not.

That goal umpire be as popular in Adelaide as this guy in Chicago.
