You get on a roll, anything can happen.
True.
The Dogs got on a roll in 2016; Richmond in 2017. They made it happen.
Usually the Flag goes to the team playing their best footy come Finals (by a strange coincidence :rolleyes:they are often ex-VFL teams for whom the MCG feels like home).

Sometimes, the reverse applies. The Crows pinched the 1998 Flag from fifth after losing their first final to Melbourne by around 9 goals . The team they beat, NM, were on a roll and had won 11 consecutive games up to the GF. Ignited by adrenaline, NM came out on fire and burned themselves out by half-time.
Anyway, I asked "How many teams make Finals after 3-8? How many go top?".
The teams you quoted from 2023 were not 3-8, nor did any of them go top. Close, but not. Those 3 are contending again. A Sydney/GWS GF is possible.

Hardwick re-invented himself under the leadership of Peggy O'Neal. Can Nicks do that under Olsen and Silvers?
I'll be as happy as anyone if we make Finals and win a Flag under Nicks, but I can't see it unless he changes (reinvents) his attitude to senior players and try-hard scrappers of low game impact and rewards performance, not reputation.

P.S. while I'm on a roll, the 1998 Crows had the stingiest defence in the Comp. and the best %.
Nicks' defensive mindset/plan is clear, but he jumped the gun in 2024 assuming we'd make finals, underestimated the loss of Rahilly and 'def-ended' us to 0-4.
Mate, I'm an old fart and am desperate for the Crows to get another Flag before I kick off.
Desperate.
Can the 2024/25 Crows get on a roll and make that happen?
I hope, but I look at the last 4 and a bit years and I just do not believe. I'd love to be wrong.

One of the excuses they’ve come up with for our s**t start is getting ahead of themselves, watching showdown highlights whilst training seems to be a bit counter intuitive to me.

Our club just can't help itself.

Proudly mediocre.

That screen has been there before. Part of training, watch game vision and work on errors. Easier for a group of guys to see it than huddling over an Ipad.

It was there when my son did the kids training session in January.

I think a bit of click bait licence here more than bathwater drinking by the club.

Then why isn’t it there every week?

so more "here's that play from the boundary throw at HB, let's try it again but the correct way"

than

"Let's watch highlights of goals"?

Jones said different players use it for different reasons, instructional, motivational.

I don’t know but playing it after a big win seems to be the opposite of trying to move on to the next game

Yeah but why get in the way of another good pile on?

Killjoy.

Yep, they talked about it on 5AA last night. They'd show a passage of play that they'd got wrong. Then they'd train it how they wanted it to go. A lot of hand wringing and teeth gnashing over nothing.

This definitely has no potential to blow up in our face.

I’m all for the concept but they should’ve done it indoors, with a few beers, behind closed doors.

You can just imagine us losing a big showdown or a final and someone hiring a big screen and shipping it down to West Lakes with the highlights rolling.

Nobody laughs last in footy.

No no no Jenny, as above, please edit your comment to be more negative, and to make less sense. The big screen can only point to an arrogant sense of megalomania by the club, and was personally erected by Ricciuto, Trigg and Collective Minds..

Is this Kate Ellis?

Welcome to the forum, good to have some insider knowledge on here.

I'm confused why its not been reported on before?

Why did 7 decide to make mention of it?

As your shapekeeper I can confirm this occurred

At this point if the club does something that appears stupid on its face, then the overwhelmingly safe bet is to assume it is stupid until proven otherwise.

And that’s on them. Because they have a long track record of abject stupidity.
