He is awesome in that looseman in defence role however in another couple of years he will probably be playing against the oppositions 2nd foward (Bowden will take there best, when he retires hopfully Thursty will).

Gold.

(Judd can't play in the forward line but he still goes ok)

You know people when start cracking jokes about controversial current issues, and sometimes it's just "too soon"?

Well, talking to us Tiger fans about Juddy's perceived weaknesses up forward just a couple of years after he's singlehandedly knocked us off by slipping forward and kicking the winning goal is just "too soon".

Admit it and enjoy it, the guy has no obvious weakness.

Nope but really has Michael Johnson ever played on anybody. Nope. Doesnt stop him from being a good player though

and I'll take Michael Johnson over Two-Strike Polak any day of the week as a running defender.

Polak was too gutless to work hard enough as the KPP we recruited him as, glad we got rid of him.

I wouldnt. Polaks better then Johnson for sure at the present. Johnson doesnt help his teammates enough as a loose defender. Watch Polak be the third man up to help his teammates aswell as run down the ground to get the ball. Johnson is never seen as a third man up helping out your defenders.

That's my point. Polak WASN'T doing that kind of stuff at Freo (too interested in getting high with his mates), and expected to be gifted games ahead of players prepared to work hard for their spots in the team.

The fact that he's picked up a lot of soft possesions in a rubbish side doesn't particularly change the fact that people were happy to see the back of him. Richmond are welcome to him.

Johnson may not be as effective at drifting around the backline cutting out attacks but he's twice the player Polak will ever be when it comes to footskills and setting up attacking play.

Polak wasnt doing that stuff for a reason. Hard to say it was ENTIRELY his attitude. Was he really given a chance though in a key defensive spot. I cant actually rememeber him playing more then 3 games on the trot in a KPP defender position really. He got frustrated and like most blokes probably took their frustration out in the wrong way. Thats the clubs fault aswel as Polaks. They should of given him more of a go.

Bullshit. He was first choice CHB for practically all of 2003 and 2004 due to injuries to McPharlin, but when he actually had to work for a spot in the side he spat the dummy and started hitting the grog and drugs.

He's a weak willed loser who chose the wrong crowd to assosciate with. Getting out of Perth has obviously done him some good, but he still wouldn't get a game in our current side.

That's because we have Joel Bowden to do these jobs - the best CHB in the COMPETITION as evident by his AA CHB honour in 2006 :thumbsu:

Did a terrific job on Pav last week, and ben Holland in the 3rd tonight.

Why replace a loser like Polak with a loser like Tarrant. My point is that Polak was a perfectly capable player and you threw him away for nothing because you were too petty to actually try and help the bloke with his off field troubles. You replaced him with Tarrant, a player you didnt even need (Murphy was doing fine) with even worse off field problems including attitude then Polak. I still think it was a big mistake

It means that Embers is blatantly lying when he says that Polak never got a regular game at CHB.

You mean 4 years ago he actually got a game. Well by god he should be grateful he even got those games.... You dont see the difference and how Polak might of improved over 4 years. He should of been given a chance in 06 before being thrown to the curb.

This is the same Murphy you wrote off as a "one year wonder" earlier this year. He was terrible earlier on this year and has only just started to find form in the WAFL.

Tarrants worked far harder this year than Polak did in the last three. One jumped up Darwin Pollie doesn't particularly change that.

Polak was given every opportunity to turn his game (and personal life) around. He didn't, we got rid of him, end of story. Considering you've let your ex-captain develop a meth habit you're not the best person to be lecturing on the subject of clubs intervening in their players personal lives either.

Who should he have replaced in 06?

This should be good.

I know that problems similar to Polak's are a dime a dozen down at the weagles embers, but it's not the kind of thing we like to encourage at Freo.

Polak was given every opportunity to be a key backman, a key forward or even a utility player who could have guaranteeed himself a spot week in week out. He was too lazy and too interested in having a good time off field to bother to do anything. It was too hard for him to fight it out with Grover, McPharlin, Thornton, Mundy and Johnson at Freo - he took the easy option of going to a team with no talls and knew he'd get an easy job every week.

When Polak learns to play against the best forwards (or even the 2nd or 3rd best forwards) in a one-on-one situation, then I'll be interested to see how he goes. At the moment, he's just racking up possessions in the easiest position on the ground, with no opponent - doesn't sound like his attitude has changed much at all to me.

Move McPharlin to CHB. Grover to FB. Polak as 3rd tall maybe taking Johnsons position however could of played CHB with McPharlin FB and Shane Parker to the WAFL. Use Johnson as a third tall forward/help Sandilands ruck by himself. When McPHarlin was up forward. Polak CHB. Johnson third tall.

Even this season Polak would be getting a game ahead of McPharlin whose been useless so far.

Not good enough, who would you drop? Grover and McPharlin were doing good enough jobs in the key spots, whilst Johnson, Mundy, Hayden and Parker were all playing excellent footy. Not to mention Dodd and Black running off half back. Why should Polak have been gifted a spot (which he didn't deserve) ahead of any of them?

Justin Longmuir I believe was the missing piece of the puzzle
