We win that game with Ashcroft, needed more hands in the middle to get the ball.

Honestly not sure how to dissect a close GF like that. Some played well, others didn’t. Ultimately it was 4 points and a late goal to us and we wouldn’t be talking about any negatives at all.

I will say, we never controlled the game. Being honest, the Pies should have put us away but inaccuracies kept us in it. That’s footy though and we almost got the chocolates.

No guarantee we get back there next year, we need to go through the whole journey again. That’s the most shattering part of it. So close but we fell short.

The boys will hurt. Hopefully we can go again next year.

I love our boys, I love our club and I’m so proud they never gave in.

If by any chance a single Lions clubmen reads this, please let the boys know how much we love them for their effort.

Next year boys. Next year.

Just imagine if every player played at their best....we'd have won by a mile.

For all that the boys frustrated us all game, they hung in there, either in front or were on their tails right behind.

Not a bad effort really...they got us to the grand final and could easily have won it. Unfortunately it wasn't to be.

I am proud they got this far even tho just missing out on the prize..

Well done boys

It’s a catch 22.
For the bulk of the game Collingwood were a percent better. Brisbane were chasing the game, even if the score was usually less than a goal.

However to lose because an ump botched it is horrible. It’s frustrating as hell. Realistically you may or may not have scored a goal from that free. It doesn’t matter, it was never advantage.

I’m sorry you copped that at that point of the game. That’s ****ed

I reckon we had control in the 2nd quarter but gave up two soft goals before half time and after that it became an arm wrestle. That coincided with us losing our nerve and not going thru the corridor which we had cut them up early. I just had this gut feel that we were never going to win a close one and unfortunately that played out. Just a numb feeling.

What happened to Coleman in the second half? Did they have someone on him more, or did he just spend a lot of time off? I noticed in the last quarter he spent a good few minutes waiting to get back on but the play was elsewhere.

They started giving us the sidelines more and staying on the inside to clog up the space there too.
