So we built it for today and not the future?

It's also been a sell out a fair few times.
Apparently It's exponentially more expensive to maintain the more seats you build. As it is, the stadium is ridiculously under utilised when you consider how many days of the year it actually holds events. Freo don't come close to selling it out, so the only events that will are when the Eagles are doing well, or certain international sports (Rugby, Soccer etc).

That's a fair call then

How often does the MCG get anywhere near 100k? Not often. But no one thinks it should be smaller

I wouldn't go to this game even if someone handed me free tickets.

Melbourne V Footscray - I couldn't decide who I wanted to lose more

Birds of Tokyo half time entertainment - this is a troll right? The same BoT who somehow made our sh*t song worse?
Same mate, doubt I'll even watch it. The only thing that's slightly tipped it in the bulldogs favour for me is the thought of Garry Lyon crying in the stands.

Was originally proposed to be 80k but then-opposition Labor voted against it(?) iirc. Its upgradeable to 70k in the future tho.
You are just making shit up. The stadium plan was announced in 2011, construction started in Dec 2013, Labor were voted into Govt in 2017, how exactly did they vote against it?

4. project overview
4.1 Background
In June 2011, the Liberal-National
Government announced the development
of Perth’s new multi-purpose stadium
to be built on the Burswood Peninsula.
Key aspects of the announcement were: The capacity will be 60,000 seats,
with provision for future expansion
to 70,000 seats or more. Public transport access will be a key
feature of the new Perth Stadium. The stadium will have state-of-the-art
configuration and seating, comparable
to Etihad Stadium (at Docklands
in Melbourne) or better, in order
to provide a world class spectator
experience. The stadium will be
equipped with the latest technology,
including the use of variable lighting to
“dress” the stadium for alternate uses. There will be a footbridge
across the river from East Perth
providing direct pedestrian access
to the stadium. This will provide
improved access to the city, which
is central to future development
of the precinct. There will be a two year planning
process to address the Master Plan,
location, scope and costing. Construction will begin in 2014, with
the stadium to be completed in time
for the start of the 2018 Australian
Football League season. A separate Project Definition Plan for
the transport infrastructure will be
completed by the end of 2012,
as the transport solution needs
to reflect the decisions made
throughout the stadium master
planning process

I probably used the wrong terminology but the original proposal was for an 80k seat stadium and Labor in opposition vehemently were against it.

It was later revised down to 60k with the option in the future to go 70k.

The Langoulant report which compared the potential Burswood, East Perth and Subiaco sites proposed a 70k stadium with an initial 60k capacity and the ability to extend.

So I don’t know where you’re getting 80k from.
