Griff back to the dogs?

Nah Griffen won't be welcome/going to the Whiiten Oval anytime soon. After he's retired a few years maybe but I hardly think he's going to dive into a media or coaching gig anyway so not really sure why he'd go back.

Ward on the other hand I don't know. I've always had a hunch (not based off anything) that'll he'd return to the Dogs one day, maybe for his last few years as a player. Unlikely to happen but I had that feeling the day he left and it still hasn't changed.

I wouldn't want Griffen or Ward for that matter anywhere near this group of players.
Maybe Griffen can return one day,and I'm sure he probably will. Can't see any need to let Ward return ever. He only played a few games when he was a kid.
A few games when he was a kid? Ward played some good finals games for us, he was already a good, consistent player for us and was in the the best 5-10 players on our list at the time. You don't know much about footy son.

If Ryan wants to return to Melbourne to watch the Dogs play next year, after he retires at the end of this season, he is quite welcome as long as he buys a membership.

Serious question. As an ex-captain isn't he entitled to a life-membership? I thought they all got it in the same way all ex Prime Ministers get a set entitlement? I think once the dust settles there will be a reconciliation. He's a total nob head in my opinion but I still feel the club has to own "forcing"'the captaincy onto someone who was clearly ill equipped and frankly seems like a weak personality. We also backed Macca which was a major club error and a huge component of this dogs breakfast........

Pop your head back in it's shell mate.
If you want to believe Ward was in general anything more than just a kid when he played for us good for you. Let's not start with the I'm a bigger footy expert than you on an Internet forum garbage though.
If I believe Ward was a player with great potential for us of course that means he managed to play a couple of OK games. He was no star yet though, and he will forge his legacy at the Giants.
If you want to believe he was a heavily missed star player good for you,and that comment would certainly not justify me pulling some sort or internet rank and questioning your football knowledge.
If you love money bags cement head so much you can express that without belittling other posters.

He played over 200 games for us, I thought that qualifies him anyway

That's correct and I thought the cutoff for life membership was 150 games? Someone please check :)
150 games rings a bell - and 250 games of all types (including pre-season) for AFL life membership

I doubt we would ever be welcomed by to the club and he will never want to come back to the club.
We was a contracted Captain and he chose to bail on the club in need. Will not be back. What for anyway, no successful reunions etc.
We were always going to win in that deal. Best thing that ever happened to the club and I said it at the time.
We needed the shake up!

Interested in why you think we won on the deal. My recollection is that with his ultimatum and then going off pig shooting and turning off his phone that the club could not discuss a fair deal with him or for him and our hand was forced to accept a poor deal so that we at least got something. I think that aspect of his leaving was seen as particularly despicable and led to the on going hatred. Have i remembered it right?

EDIT: As others have said, having played 202 games for the club, he is a life member already (150 senior games minimum).

Let me take this further.
Ward, Griffen, Cooney, Lake and Higgins participated in some ****ing awful thumbing their nose at Bulldogs supporters on television and social media since leaving the club. I have no problem with them disagreeing with management or coaches but to specifically do that to supporters is classless, arrogant and despicable. As far as I'm concerned they were never bulldogs and never will be again.

Daniel Cross was treated far worse than any of these blokes and still maintains Bulldog legend status with me as he left with class, dignity and respect for our club and it's supporters.

Did Griff though? Apart from being dragged into that despicable "lost dogs" marketing bullshit by the GWS marketing team I always felt he was just mentally unable to cope. Seemed like a bloke who had reached the end of his ability to actually engage in the process and just utterly weak willed and frankly stupid. Not his fault if he's not a roade scholar and was poorly advised. He was hired to play footy and lumped with a captaincy he was utterly ill suited to handle. His media mumbles were an embarrassment for all concerned and what did he bring to that role "I'll care for my teammates, oops I slipped and fell into falafel land". Point being, as shitful as it all was, an advisor with an IQ greater than the 48 points Mensa-boy seemed to have should have walked him through this. So I just can't blame him. He was and is the 'village idiot.' ... unless Liam jones has already claimed that title.

He accepted the captaincy it was never forced on him that was always a bullshit narrative.
He also had no problem being part of some pretty shitty social media photos having dinner with Cooney and the like poking fun at our club.

Exactly. Crossy will always be a favourite player of mine. He'd have to be, for me to become a Demons member for a year after he joined them. I hate the snow.
