Warnock wanted to come home. We just had to pay heavily to make us his 1st preference.

It's more like the McLean scenario.

The only reason i'm questioning his character is because he told us he was staying. Greg Swann categorically said the deal is done. Grigg goes to Thailand, we all think everything is sweet and the next day his management come out and say he wants to leave.

Didn't talk to us about it. In fact flat out lied about it and now wont face up to the music.

He's taking the extra $$. I dont blame him for that.

Top post.

For the benefit of the neutrals who haven't seen much of him on the field, what sort of player is he like? So far all I can make out is that most Carlton observers say he's a bit one-sided in the footskills department.

Pfftt get over your recruiting staff. They have not exactly been on fire lately....
Please may we have Vickery?
From what I have seen he does have some hurt factor goal scoring wise, which I would be keen on.
Even Tambling has more hurt as a goal kicker.

Grigg's set shot from the square against the Cats went through the points.

Grigg is draft camp quick, but doesn't really carry the ball and break the lines like Walker.

I can't recall Grigg kicking a goal like Walker and Tambling have after they ran the ball from the middle.

I'm sure Grigg will enjoy travelling to Craigeburn in the off season and playing in Cairns.
coming from the club that gave up the pick that got Melbourne Jordan Gysberts for Brock McLean.....
Mclean was ahead of Grigg.

Why do you think we brought him in?

Mclean was a gun mid for Melbourne as a 19 year old, yet you think Gysberts is going to be a superstar and follow through with his development. ;)

It was Lucas and JMP/Jetta if we had have kept that pick.

Lol *facepalm*

this is not the Richmond you are used to, surely a learned man like yourself would see that.

For instance we have employed Blair Hartley who is highly regarded in the industry to look after this area. Like no club else, we have a full time guy watching opposition players and contracts in looking for right opportunities for our football club. We have some very smart men and systems in place for our football club to move forward.

This is not the Greg Miller run football department it once was.

Also it is this type of thinking that could send your club backwards. Look for a win - win scenario rather than a screw the opposition type scenario. Other than Brisbane of last year, no other club is that dumb.

Blair Hartley of Port Power fame?

Even better, I guess you'll be able to pull another Relton Roberts out of nowhere while we're stuck with the Simon Whites and Jeff Garletts of the world.

You might want to tell your own club supporters about this win-win business, they seem to think they'll be able to bend Swann and Icke over the trade table. It doesn't work like that, your club is a rabble and is now dealing with two of the best negotiators in the league. Guys who have got us Judd, McLean, Warnock, Henderson and Lucas in the last few years. What exactly has Richmond recruited apart from a drug addict that took you from 9th to consecutive 15th places?

Grigg is a tough big-bodied midfielder, he is quick, good inside and has good hands. His kicking isn't great (especially set-shots), but he will be a good player. Not happy he is leaving.

Cheers Stamos. In that case I'd assume he has some currency amongst teams that have developing midfields - I don't think Harris, Riski, Harbrow and a bunch of 17 year olds will be able to block adequately for Gablett.

If the Tiges offer us nothing we want and don't move I assume:

a) Grigg nominates for the ND and could possibly end up at either the Suns or the Eagles before Richmond get a go or;

b) Nominates for the PSD and the same occurs right?

Assuming no tricky multi-way deals are done and no other club ends up with an upgraded pick in either draft yes?

If the reply is yes I'm thinking the Eagles probably won't bother as they seriously don't need another midfielder with questionable kicking skills, however the Suns might for a bigger more experienced body to help out Ablett and their younger brigade.

I guess it'll come down to how much Richmond want him if he has to nominate but either way as he's uncontracted, the Suns and the Eagles have enough coin if they really want him but historically it would appear players who nominate a preferred club seem to get there.

As such we surely arn't coming from an overly strong bargining position.

Obviously in stronger positions with Walks and Sauce and it would appear not too many at the club would cry if T-bird goes.

Personally I think Walks will stay and we'll get what we want for Sauce,
a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Thornton and maybe not much for Grigg.

He does, although with his deficiencies he's no guarantee to be a first choice player long term. The problem is he's nominated Shitmond so we'll probably have to try and get a deal done with them unless something changes.

You would think so, but the Suns have said they're not interested.

I want to see Brock run through Grigg round 1 sooooooooo bad atm. (Nothing personal Shaun, you are just the enemy aka scum now).

Watched Rnd 1 (2010) not long ago and I was pleasently surprised how Brock was playing. Forgot all about him. Will be a great addition when up and running.

So, we know he's going. What can we hope to get for him?

Possibles I can think of.

Grigg for Alex Rance:cool:

Grigg to Richmond as part of a three way deal to get Justin Sherman.

Grigg and pick 14 (should we get it) for pick 6:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Grigg for the Nathan Bock compo pick if Adelaide trade it to Richmond for :)Tambling.

Grigg for Richmond's 2nd round pick :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Grigg and Thornton for Jayden Post:cool::cool:

Thornton or Browne could be thrown in to help get some of the other deals done as well.

i cant believe some of the trades you put foward there sin !!

Seems like something is awfully bad at the club.....

Jacobs, Walker and Grigg all asking to be traded....all members of our best 22.....

Massive changes for next year....

outs: Walker (probably), Jacobs, Grigg, Thornton, Wiggins, O'Hailpin (probably), Fisher (probably)......

Doesnt read well. Can someone explain what Ratten has done wrong?

WTF is going on!
Jacobs is a good ruckman who knows he is behind Warnock and Kreuzer in the oecking order and doesn't want to wait until someone is injured before he takes the first ruck. So you can write that one off.

Walker's manager has said they are more than happy to stay but feel a change might be good. Not exactly walking out on the club.

Grigg has had attitude issues from Day 1 so hardly surprising that he may not get on with the coach. Funny he has been linked with the Tiges......his ability to win the ball then turn it over should fit their game plan perfectly.

Kane Lucas will come back in, and Grigg would not have been in our "best 22" ahead of him.........not even close.

So what has any of this got to do with "What Ratten is doing"?

P.S. Swanny.....get me Mitch Clarke to play as KPP forward please. Thanks.:thumbsu:

TBH I don't think blocking for Judd has been a strong point for Grigg.

How many picks would we seriously be looking to use this year?

We have our 1st & 2nd round picks. We will at worst get a 2nd rounder for Jacobs.

It's looking less likely that there is anyone of note to go after, so I don't see us trading those picks.

Even if Richmond offer us a 3rd round pick, it is doubtful that we will use it, and even so, it'd only be a slight upgrade on our 3rd round.

No use gifting them players - if they don't give up a 2nd rounder (or a player of equal worth), we are effectively giving him to them for free anyway, so send him to the PSD.

Would any of us want Tambling? The keyboard just burst into flames as I typed that.

I'd CONSIDER it.

I'd CONSIDER it.

Grigg for a fit Tambling is fine by me, but if the compartment syndrome rumours are factual I would step very warily with this one. Hugely restrictive for a player of his ilk.

I see that the doctor is back in the house, perhaps he can elaborate.

Gold Coast have to list their uncontracted players by Oct. 7 (middle of trade week).

Key NAB AFL Draft dates
Monday October 4 - Monday October 11 - AFL exchange period (In addition to normally permitted exchanges, Gold Coast FC may exchange players nominated as 17-year-olds in 2009 who have not accepted a contract offer, players nominated as rookies in 2009 who have not accepted a contract offer, the right to list a player who has previously nominated for the Draft under rule 35.5 and the right to list a priority zone selection from Queensland or the Northern Territory under rule 35.6).

Thursday October 7, 2pm - Gold Coast FC may include on its primary list up to one listed player from each club (or more than one if the other club agrees) provided the player is uncontracted for the 2011 season.
Key NAB AFL Draft dates

Surely they'd have signed Grigg by now if he was interested in moving move North?
