GWS and Deboy or WCE and Deboy? Hmmmmmm ....

Geelol will be ropeable that this game is to be played at Spotless Stadium.

Mumford and Cameron out will improve them. They're playing too
top heavy and have looked extremely slow in the last few weeks .
If any coach hasn't worked out how the game is being played nowadays then they're in the wrong job. They looked better five weeks ago when Cameron and Patton were out.
I'd prefer to play gws as our pace would swallow them up.
Eagles I only fear playing if it is a nice day as their aged , but experienced midfield could get enough ball to their mobile tall forward line to do some damage. Even then I still think we would overrun them in the end as like last night their mids dropped off.

It's an interesting dilemma for Leon. His name sake being out forces him to re-think the forward line.

If Mummy is out too, can they afford to just ruck Lobb against Petrie and Vardy? Or do they bring in the old lumbering Dawson Simpson...... I think they might be tempted to bring in speed not height as Shiel looks to be struggling a bit. Matt Kennedy, Devon Smith and Tim Taranto are all a chance to get back. For all their supposed depth, they are light on for healthy experience. And then there is Stevie J................

I'm not of fan of the talk of the pre-lim as won already.
They are always huge games and regardless of who we play we'll have to bring our A game again.

Granted that things are in our favour and we really want it to be a bruising encounter next week at Spotless.

I'm tipping GWS but without much confidence.

So based on that....

It would be good if Toby Greene had a brain snap and got reported. Mitchell and Co will try and get under his skin no doubt.

I'd be happy if Stevie J plays this week and goes well as I'd like him to line up against us, as our pace will expose him big time.

Jeremey Cameron and Mumford likely to be done for the year as it is so Patton and Lobbe are their forward targets.

I'll be cheering every tackle and bone crunching hit on Saturday night.

I'm tempted to go along in my Tigers jumper.

Both will be tough. But bring our intensity and effort from Friday and I don't think it will matter!

Both sides have elite talent. Gws have higher expectations so I'd rather face the older eagles. But then again, Mitchell and Petrie have given me nightmares over the years. Having McGovern and yeo pick off our passing and jjk kicking goals is pretty scary to think about.
Honestly a 50/50 game and potentially getting nicnat back could be a big factor.
If nicnat makes it back and plays it will be to our advantage. We saw selwood out for a few weeks and he was well below his best. You cannot be out the majority of the season and waltz back and tear the comp to pieces.
This is only based on logic and common sense but players struggle with interreputed pre seasons these days. I may be wrong but time will tell.

Lobby is their only ruck with Patton filling in . They have to bring in pace as they look awful ATM . They can't afford to play Lids and Stevie J as the WCE hb line will have a field day. They need to roll the dice on those kids otherwise their season could be over.

Both dangerous. I want WC, but expect GWS.

If GWS turn it on they are a very very good side. but they are really out of sorts. And, not that I'd wish it on him. But if went to the GF and Lids didn't it'd be sort of poetic.

I hope this Saturday West Coast and Giants beat each other up in humid conditions (high temperatures in Sydney this week) and just a little worried we need to keep ourselves match fit with one a game in one month..

West Coast

Pros

They seem to have clutch and pretty went into finals with nothing to lose

Strong tall forward line with Darling and Kennedy in form

Experience line up who have been a GF before with Mitchel leading the way

Mitch McGovern on fire as the intercept king

Their ‘Web’ defence

Cons

Suspect defence (I am thinking when Shepard was running back against Port and got worried out of it)

A lot of older blokes who may be cooked or equally could have a blinder eg Priddis, Mitchell, Lecras, Petrie

Giants

Pros

Young team and prob have the best list talent wise on paper (better than west coast for sure)

When they are on they have the ability to cut you up in their tsunami style play

Their talls on their day and clunking them are nearly impossible to stop eg patton or lobbe can both turn it on if their confidence is up

Potentially due to click in if they meet us and been winning (before FW1) despite being out of form

A killer midfield containing Shiel, Cog, Ward, Scully, Kelly, Hopper, Kennedy

Toby Green

Cons

A little tall in their forward line making them slow

Still young and might be out of gas

Carrying a few older guys slightly out of form but still can potentially turn it on (Lids, SJ, Shaw and Griff)

Cameron and Mummy both injured (but may return for the Prem)

Have visions of Deledio kicking one after the siren to win it so hopefully we play West Coast.
bullshit

lids is cooked

if i were him id juice up for that one game and retire after this season

Sorry to intrude.

Just wondering do you think an extremely low scoring first half like on Friday
would hold up in a prelim against say GWS?

GWS best hope would be to start very fast and silence the nearly 100% Tigers crowd.

Gee, this North Melbourne supporter has identified a real issue. If GWS kick the first 5 goals of the game, the Richmond crowd will be less noisy. We should try and make sure that doesn't happen.

Can somebody send Dimma a text message, or something?

Cheers.

I'll tip a crowd of 45,000 Friday Night..... will seem quiet.
Maybe the Tiger fans should rock up, and boo again :D

Dont do that the booing scares and intimidates them... please dont chant either :drunk: bloody handbaggers showing there true handbagness

its a hard one between the two. GWS are clearly more talented and for their sake you would hope they would bounce back after a pathetic last few weeks. if they hit their straps against west coast they could easily lift the cup this year.

on the other hand west coast are in great form and have huge confidence and momentum. if they make it past gws they might bring back nicnat who will worry nank a lot, and they have an abundance of quality big men that we do not.

id probably say west coast just based on ladder position, the fact that they have been travelling to the mid & east coast every week for a month, and that if gws really hit their gear we wont stop them.

Either or, you really could make a strong case for both.

The one thing we can all agree on and thank our lucky stars is it wont be Sydney or Adelaide. Thank **** for that.

Getting into the GF is ours to lose.
Don't make the same mistake we made in 2015 - we forgot to turn up on GF day that year as the team seemed to think that just making the GF was good enough - against the Hawks only 2 weeks prior we made mincemeat of them and then 2 weeks later they did the same to us. Richmond need to try and keep a lid on it to be successful. Nerves can get the better of those not having played in a GF before. That's why the Hawks have been so successful as they had the experience as to what was required on how to win a GF. Anyway as I think we are on borrowed time hope Richmond go well from here on in, unless of course you end up having to play us in the prelim;)

I really hope we make it through to play you guys (obviously, duh), mainly because past history tells us that we match up pretty well - we've had a few close ones in recent memory. Also, for whatever reason, you're the only team we really seem to play well against at the MCG.

Having said that - Richmond are a different beast this year. Everything seems to click - ball movement is rapid and players are showing hunger I've not seen from the Tigers.

Would love to see 80k for a Richmond/WCE prelim ...it'l be a snoozefest if GWS make it through

This thread is just begging to backfire.

I guess West Coast would be preferred, given they finished 8th and would be making their 3rd straight trek across the country. GWS beat them twice this year though so I think we'll be playing them instead, even if Cameron and Mumford are out.

Keep in mind, West Coast nearly beat us at the G early in the year. We should go into both games favourite but either could upset us on the day.
Sometimes having to make the GF the hard way often has more success. Look at the Hawks in 2015 when they had to do all that travel. It all depends upon who wants it more on the day and can cope with the pressure. Who knows we might bring Nic Nat back and maybe bring in Rioli just for good measure!

A bigger snoozefest than the Bundesliga? Just joking :D

I'm confident we'll get more than 80k to a prelim. I'd be expecting 95,000+ again, especially if it's on a Saturday.

Exactly. West coast dominated us for large parts of the game round 3. Also Giants smashed us in the 1st qtr when we played them.
Both will be tough games regardless but I reckon there's a new belief and continuous improvement in this group. Won't bother me who we play, I'll back our boys in!
