If Barry Hall has other issues then making this public in the manner Sydney have can do him no good at all.

If he fails to perform on the field then drop him.

If he does something reportable on the field then let the system take its course.

How the ____ does Sydney suspending him indefinitely, then making it public help in anyway whatsoever. Who it helps is the Sydney spin machine which can say to the football world, look at us, look how we handle it. No doubt Hall will have to come out and tell the world he has issues ra ra ra. Have Sydney ever thought of letting him have his suspension then just not ____ing picking him until they think he is ready. Havent they heard of injuries.

They are wrong.

Absolutely right.(and Hall is making that very public defence right now). If he does indeed have off-field problems to such a degree that he can't even focus on his footy - then the Swans public treatment of him over the past 24 hours has been shabby (at best). Just shameful of Roos not to stand solidly behind someone who has been so much a part of the team's recent success. A loyal son just hung out to dry in a time of crisis.

You are joking, right?
The club did all the right things, gave him support, kept him in the fold doing all the team things, making sure he was not being victimized - THE FIRST TIME.... But, in case you didn't notice, in his THIRD game back after a SEVEN week holiday, the fool did it AGAIN.
What do you think they should have done? Maybe said something like "That's ok Baz, punch the lights out on all those nasty backmen, we'll support you"
He obviously has some issues but Roos has an obligation to the club and the rest of the team, they wouldn't get away with this behavior so why should Hall?
The thing is, he is going to cop an awful lot of crap from his opposition for the rest of his career so he needs to learn how to cope with it. The softly, softly approach didn't work last time, they have to try something different this time.

The point that Skipper kelly and i agree on, I think, is that Hall has now been forced into a position of very publicly defending himself. No problem there of course - he has a regular newspaper column and has a forum to do so. But given the circumstances and how the coach handled it so publicly, then he MUST also inevitably publicly air his private life, including issues of his mental stability (which is the clear inference made by the Coach). If you have seen his recent comments then you can only agree. He has been humiliated by his Club and it is obvious he is a little bewlidered by it all. I find it very sad that a player is put in that position, tragic if he indeed has some significant mental health issues.

Something needed to be worked out between player and CLUB (not the Coach) that could have addressed the inevitable media storm and have also included the player's welfare and future mental wellbeing at the centre of whatever they decided to do. SK's suggestion of just putting him on the injury list was just one option and he then could then have gotten on with his recovery without being so humiliated. Obviously that has not happened. It's a professional sporting club operating in the 21st century and I would have thought a more modern approach to "player management" would not have been too much of a stretch.

Paul Roos is now in the habit of publicly disciplining his players (oh sorry...that's right.....they are "public challenges") with Goodes, Davis and now Hall on the receiving end. I understand this forum doubles as the Paul Roos Love-In website, but I think his behaviour has been atrocious.
