Not sure if the photo I saw of him was enhanced, but the guy looked like a monster and with his athletic ability could be a freak. Add the 2 irish boys and Kreuzer to our list and we may have the 4 most mobile big men in the comp.

I thnk that is a fair statement to make. Add these blokes (should we take Kreuzer) and the midfield at our disposal, and we could be frightingly good in a couple of years time.

Am really impressed by what I have been hearing about Hammo.

Sounds like he really has been busting a gut during this off-season, and is really giving himself a great opportunity to play quite a few games next year.

Seems to me as though he has an excellent attitude towards football-is passionate about the game and the club, and is willing to put in the hard hards to succeed at this level.

I haven't been this excited about a young, up-and-coming ruckman on our list for quite a while. If he manages to translate his efforts thus far, into performances on the field, then I am sure that we will have a very valuable long-term player on our hands.

Right now, I have him as our 2nd ruckman coming into season 2008. Not expecting him to dominate, but I hope that he will come off the bench in a fair few games and contribute to the team.

What we need to remember, is that Hammo is still VERY raw-both in footballing ability/experience, and in his body. We cannot expect too much from him, too soon. I think that if we get 10 games out of him, that would be excellent, as it would give him some great experience and would do his development the world of good.

Hammo really surprised me this year with his effort, determination, and even his performances. I didn't think he was a realistic chance of playing a game in 2007, but he proved me, along with many others, wrong. I would love him to do it again and cement a spot in our 22 as early as next year, and even though I think it will eventually happen, I don't think it will be in season 2008.

It is still early, but to this point, the recruiting staff have an enormous tick from me for recruiting Hampson. Best of luck to him, as he sure is providing us supporters with a hell of a lot of excitement, and he's only played the 2 senior games.

you're right,he loved the opportunity he got to play those last two games.
He worked hard during the break and went running almost every second day. This week at testing he recorded his and the clubs quickest time over 20 metres of 2.827 secs., which was rounded up to 2.83

and this was earlier in the year

A seriously impressive youngster...

As Jeremias said, if we get 10 good games out of him this year then he has done well for the club.

I reckon that he will be coming off the bench as the #2 ruck for the first half of the season and should hopefully start a few games at the back end of it. And with Aisake as our ruck-rover it's going to be a sweet season.

It's all good in the long run :D

I did hear during this year that the Blues coaching staff were disapointed in his approach to the game. He didn't have the agressive streak they were hoping for.
I hope what I heard was incorrect or at the very least that he has changed his attitude.

Hampson

Aisake

Better - but they're not quite where they need to be yet and they're certainly NOT monsters YET. Another year or two and 5-6 kgs each and THEN we'll be cooking with gas!:D:thumbsu:

I heard that he was really inspired by the AFL games he played at the end of the year.

He hired a personal trainer and has been working really hard during the off season. I also know that he ran 2.83 in the 20m sprint and I heard a rumor that he killed in the beep test as well.

Operation "Get Cotchin" must be in full flight? ;)

This is brilliant news particularly given the attitude problems he was struggling with mid-season.

Anyone hear a beep test result?

Any more of this and you'll need to change your sig to read
"Written and presented by Gilly1972 on behalf of T. Cotchin. Gilly1972 does not have a financial interest in T.Cotchin."

:thumbsu:

That should cover it.:p

Actually there has been a couple of them. One led our goalkicking in 1972 & the other was a key component in the Judd trade. Take your pick.
Another was a back pocket player in the 87 premiership side.
