Has Kane Cornes lost his mind?

If you’ve lost the hunger and drive then wouldn’t that be shutting the window?
Not necessarily and I certainly don't mean all players. It's up to the coaches/leaders to keep the desire burning.

Barrass talked about it last year on a podcast after winning the flag, he questioned himself as to whether he really had the motivation to push for another one.

Interesting listen.

Fair enough. Point is that Kornes is a campaigner, loves to make big statements and is often wrong. So often it's boring.
I dunno.

I think he gets bullied by the Melbourne mafia because he is from Adelaide.

It seems like there are double standards. Melb media can slag off and criticise interstate clubs as much as they please but interstate media cant dare criticise a Melb club.

When people are at a stage where they don't really care when another one of his attention-seeking predictions goes pear-shaped, his days are numbered.

Why, because he points out facts like Richmond had the dream run into last year's GF?

He's criticised Carlton for their well known poor starts or missing qtrs

He's not spineless

There were some tough games in that run. The fixture had been out for the best part of a year, he (and others) only said something after it was apparent that Richmond was going to win them all.

He has admitted to an irrational hatred of Richmond. Let's see if he mouths off this week when Port has something to lose.

Let's see if Richmond fans make excuses all summer long if they lose just like our last meeting.

Kane lost his mind last week, but found it this week in a game where Pies didn't even make up the numbers.

Disagree. Owned it last week, didn't shy away, and is now returning fire on a bunch of people who HAVE shied away from their big talk last week.

Cornes acknowledged it was a good win by the Pies. But all and sundry who got stuck into him are now very quiet as they were proven to make up the numbers after all - one upset win didn't really change that they weren't contending for the flag which was his overall point.

Kane’s role has always been to make controversial statements simply as click bait. He’s not known as a man of substance.
Exactly - he is paid to say controversial/outlandish garbage to generate news, discussion and clickbait.

When he is wrong, people will tune into see him get his comeuppance - but he will usually have some form of pre-prepared deflection ready before moving onto generating more controversial garbage.

Personally, this form of AFL media is about as entertaining as passing a kidney stone - but he is good at what he does.

You say that, but then if you look at the majority of his opinions there's almost always a good lick of truth in them.

They cause outrage because they're not publicly accepted opinions when he states them. The difference is he's not afraid to voice them and take the heat; thick skin tagger syndrome.

The Jezza mark is a great example. Outrage left right and centre at targeting a Victorian icon, yet even from those most offended the begrudging acknowledgement that he had a point.

Kane doesn't care about reputation or diplomacy. I find him refreshing in this age of AFL establishment boys' clubs and media cliches.

Cornes is the Aussie version of Skip Bayless, stays relevant to people by constantly saying outlandish statements.
Some of these statements end up being correct, but when he makes these statements he doesn't care if they end up being correct or not, he cares how many people get riled up and talk about them which is what keeps him relevant.

That is nonsense Damo Barrett and Caro go hammer and tongs at North Melbourne far more than any other club (Victorian or interstate)

I have to come to realize Kornes is just a blatant windup merchant, who loves to antagonize footy fans, Caro and Damo's constant Hatchet jobs on North Melbourne however are extremely toxic, and even though I don't NMFC or their fans all That much, I think it's deplorable how those two always seem to find a way to knock North and bring more negativity to their brand, which admittedly has taken a big hit in recent times.

He is a media cliche though.

Absolutely - he knows what material will get a rise out of people and it has to have some kernel of truth for it to be an effective (but ultimately pointless) discussion point.

The biggest issue I have is that he's just about the only person who does offer a strong opinion on the game, so even though it's fabricated as can be he's at least putting stuff out there.

It's easy to avoid the Skip Bayless types in the US media because each sport have some proper analysis and opinion.

Apart from a few stats guys and the occasional good fox footy pre game production - Riewoldt, Dunstall or Lyon usually - there's nothing to fill the void.

The Age podcast has moments of quality but neither Niall nor Bartel want to go too hard.

Funnily enough it's actually trade week where the media get critical.

What did he say about Jesaulenko?
