Kennedy is the one that I would move on. His inside ability is obvious, but is always going to be in line after Mitch, Sewell, Lewis and Hodge if he ever gets back in the middle.
I feel our outside players such as Bateman, Rioli, Whitecross and Muston (if fit) can cover any injuries to these players whilst still warranted first 22 selection for their outside play.

Boyle Might miss out purely based on Mitch Thorps potential. He's not overly old and is a good depth player as you always know what youre getting, but his injury was bad timing. If he clears medicals, I wouldn't be against him staying.

Bailey and Muston Unfortunately another structural injury before years end will mean curtains.

If Bailey and Muston can stay fit, it will come down to who they feel will offer the least long term out of Bailey, Muston and McGlynn. I think Morton has offers enough to have another year of opportunity. One of the few players on our list that can play tallish both forward and back, as well as being a midfield rotation.

I guess the reason I asked the original question was not to open a negative discussion, or to slag any players.

Most of the players that have come in have vindicated the clubs decisions for selecting them, and any players that miss out come years end can hang their heads high knowing that they were most likely held back because of the lack of opportunity and unavoidable injuries as opposed to showing little in the senior side.

Another 4 months and things will change. Sadly Tim Boyle is the obvious first candidate. 3 more minutes at the end of trading 2007 and he would have been a Bulldog.

As for the other 2, its a crystal ball prediction. I would not write off Muston or Bailey. Talking to club people who I think have a good read on these things, both are really rated. Its a business so if either did another ACL I would expect that to be the end of their career this year.

That said some look at K3 as being a little slow. I reckon he is very similar to Jobe Watson. I remember reading many posts from scum fans saying Jobe was no good. He is now their poster boy.

Players mature at different rates. Brett Delidio walked into AFL as a ready made player. Jarryd Roughead was a big lump who we all knew would take three year or five years. He surprised and is a superstar now.

Its like the stockmarket. Speculation and opinion.

Would anyone else draft Dew at the end of this year? He'd be 30.

If we have to use three picks, AND only wanted to delist one or two, he would be the one that would probably cost us the least, as no-one else would draft him (would they?)

Geez it will be a tough decision to delist 3.

Boyle is the obvious one and ACL or not would have been in the firing line.

I reckon Thorp is in trouble. I imagine we could delist then rookie if we wanted to give him another chance.

I would be keen to keep Josh Kennedy as he really is 'plug and play' if we have an injury to Sewell, Mitchell or Lewis but he would be the other obvious one.

Suckling will be under the pump if he doesn't get on the park in the second half of the year.

Then the next rung who might be under the pump really depends on if Muston and Bailey come good and also how Tim Walsh goes this year. If the latter 2 came through then I think it is not out of the equation that Taylor could be under pressure. Also if Dowler continues to come good then Murphy could be under the pump given Whitecross has emerged but would be very unlikely.

The other scenario is that one of the new draftees gets flicked but all have impressed to date.

Also, who is going to make way for when we upgrade Carl Peterson for 2010? Good to see Willo in the HUN today say he thinks Carl will play seniors.

Really surprised Morton has been mentioned by people.

Whilst Dew may be the size of a house he is as safe as houses.

It is great for the HFC that a good handful of players are genuinely playing for their careers this year. We do have a very impressive list.

Rookies like Walsh and Suckling don't count as the 3, making the job even tougher!

This being the last normal draft for a while you'd think the club would go for 3 kids out of the u18s rather than redrafting players. We have to make the hard calls, something the Clarko era has been very good with

You people have no soul! How can you contemplate delisting Kennedy. Third generation at the club, that alone is worth persevering with. Would HATE for him to go to another club and shine, I want him to shine at the Hawks! It's hard enough seeing Shane Tuck at Richmond.

Tucky wasn't our fauly, he'd had injuries and wanted some time out of the game.
