Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

I wouldn't have thought so, unless it's involving F/S or Academy points matching bids.

Otherwise I think it's just nerds on here that get all giddy about it using it as some sort of supercomputer type tool.
So you think the AFL are signing off on trades with “a vibe”?

They’ve created a points system that is used to ascertain the value of agreed trades so that they’re balanced.

I’m sorry I’m confused.

If the Pies are holding 16, 25 and 27, why would they give us 16 for Tom and 24 to get a kid?

They can just hold pick 16 and give us one of the second rounders.

They don’t lose a pick for a slide. If they have goals to take 3 kids in the top 30 they can still do this while adding Mitchell. Alternatively they could trade one of those picks but would only end up with 2 draftees and Tom. It all just depends on what their goals are.

Ok this makes a bit more sense to me now if they need to fill the list spot, but I just can’t see them parting ways with 16.

Hope they prove me wrong.

Crystal balling come Wednesday close of Trade period
TOM - reckon he ends up at pies but for 2nd rounder at best
Meek - trade will fall through as clubs don’t agree. Freo not prepared to deal
Haynes/Whitfield/ pick swapsies will amount to nought
Gunston - at best traded for 3rd rounder

Hawks keep 6 & 24

Does Haynes 1) actually want to leave GWS at all , and 2) also want to come to Hawthorn?

Seems good on paper putting forward deals that suit us, however convincing someone to pack up their life and move to a different state and new club within 24 hours seems ambitious, particularly when they are under contract for another 2 years and don’t actually have to do anything at all.

How does that conversation go firstly within GWS, one of their few founding players left?

“listen mate, you’ve been here from the start and gone through all the tough years, you stayed and re-signed when others were jumping ship and had your body smashed for this club for over decade, you’re a B&F winner here and an All Australian, but we couldn’t get a deal done for Hopper who wants to leave us so you need to GTFO and pick between either Hawthorn or Essendon”.
Haynes grew up 30 mins down the road from Waverley at Somerville. Convincing him to come while we're in a full scale build would probably be the hard part. Like anyone he likely wants to play finals and push for a premiership. MM would have to try and sell to him that he has a role. Also at the end of the day with them already losing Taranto and with Hopper to be next GWS is at the same point we are so there's that.

Alsmypal had intel that confirmed the Haynes salary dump offer as well Tops. Did your source confirm what was on offer for taking on his whole salary? We all know GWS are cheap AF when it comes to parting with draft collateral. I have no doubt they're willing to move him but my question is what for.

Going by all the other salary dumps we have done with GWS it will be pick 60

If i put $100 on this. Id get $100.10 back in winnings.

The only thing beating this is Phar Lap

I reckon Meek gets done with Gunston pick and something late.

Ok, that is better, but a delay of 12 months I am not sure about. As long as we can convert into two good elite picks in 2023 after a slashing 2023 FA season securing Gresham, Himmelberg and perhaps Parish and have made plans, engaged and be ready for a 2024 FA season.
It can be done AND we will have the money.
Yeah agree its not ideal. But it gives us many more options to be a major player next year. Something we are really lacking this year.

Still 3 days to be proven wrong though.

Expectations are 3 picks inside 20.

Reality is 6,24 and a failed Meek trade

Off topic but IMO this is the clubs fault.

They “forced” Mitch and Tazz out, followed it up by sending hodge into early retirement. It’s forever been sold as “superannuation” top up for the loyal soldiers, but for me, it was an appalling way to treat our senior players. They still had something to give and they gave it at other clubs. Did we improve as a result - no and yet we hear again and again in here that we need to be brutal. Stuff that

We may one day hear whether it did have an impact on those left at the club and enticing players to come play for the club

It set the tone going forward and players becoming FA are up and leaving rather than stay and mentor - sad state of affairs

Hopefully it now stops with them all gone but Breust and not ingrained in the club when the current group get close to retiring like Newcombe,Ward and other etc.

Meek depends on Lobb - and currently looking like it may get done but time will run out methinks

Meek will have to wait 12 months
Does Lobb depend on Jackson?

Surely if it seems like a relatively even draft after the first 4-5 picks and we don’t improve on what we’ve got, we go to Geelong on draft night and try and bluff a future 2nd out of them by saying we’ll take Clarke (or another team within a few picks if their particularly keen on someone). If they take it then go to Giants and try and split for 2 of their teen picks? Pretty much turning 6 into 2 teens and a future 2nd?

Sam wants more kids from the top end, so we won’t be splitting our pick.

Our future second or if we can get one from lions for Gunston + our pick 6 for 7 and cats future first would be the deal

I think you’re probably right but we should always be asking these questions, I’m sure we are and us plebs are just not privy to it! Even if we get 27 from the Pies and pick 19 from the Giants on a salary dump, pick 6, 19, 24 abs 27 is a win in my books.
