Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

In my opinion, based on the report from Cal Twomey that GWS will consider moving on Whitfield as another potential salary dump, why not go to them and ask for Whitfield + Pick 12 for our Future 2nd. I know Whitfield is 28 (Not sure of length of contract remaining). Thoughts?

Stuff you GCS - We are coming for Noah Anderson now.
More proof the AFL rips us off.
Fathers sons / daughters should be 50 games or a premiership.

Glad our Hawks dont give up as easily as some of our supporters.

In a couple of years we will have dingley set up and going. An we will be on the raise again. Keep faith Hawkas!

unless they think they can keep and extend Hopper with him out I am not too sure its a big of a deal for them as it was GC

Williams from Carlton was one that might get a pick attached but probably not their first

I'm assuming Kane Cornes is outraged by this and demanding the AFL block it like he did with the Scully trade a few years ago

You mentioned

Macdonald - Barely even rotated in to the midfield this year

Worpel - VFL this year

Nash - Improved as a player but hardly a world beater

Moore - will spend a ton of times as a half forward

Jaeger - Good leader but we were already pushing him out of the rotation this year

We have a really bad midfield, if you are arguing that i dunno what to even tell you

A Kid from Poowong is our best mid. No hoopla, no big national championships and people fawning over him. A country footballer in his second year of football has become our biggest hope .

If we are handing over Mitchell for a pick in the 20s then Sam either knows that worpel will become a new man again or we better have a few other things in play over the next 8 days to address this area of the ground.

It's something clubs should consider, Hopper goes next year and GWS will get a top 5 pick based on this years ladder.

I disagree that Sam can know that, he may be banking on it but it doesn't ensure it will happen. This is no knock on Sam btw.

I think we just look at things as we see them currently, and can change as things change. Currently our midfield is pretty bad, that is just a fact. If we are banking on Worpel to get back to his best i have some concerns. It has been 2 years since we have seen it.

My 2c for what it’s worth - I went into this season expecting little and got to enjoy the green shoots. I got stupidly swung into shades of optimism today and got burnt. I would expect nothing more out of this off-season than Amon and maybe a second round pick from Mitchell - nothing else. And then don’t bank on watching us play finals until 2025. Call me a naysayer all you like but without being able to get a few more hits at the top end of the draft this year it’s going to be a hard slog. Every post-season since 2016 has delivered below expectations and I see no reason to expect anything different next year. Let’s hope we pick some good kids in 2022 and 2023 and that the majority of our 18-22 year olds come on in leaps and bounds otherwise our flag every decade streak could be in jeopardy.

There’s no silver lining here - just buckle in for the hard slog.

Third party deals is where it is at. No one in their right mind would sign a 4 year 2M contract when they have 1.6m guaranteed for 2 years. That stinks if that is true. Oh and he has shit for brains because pick 7 will likely keep him out of the side all through those 4 years.

Yes its not the clubs benefitting fault at all .
Reckon the AFL could very simple put a few basic things in place

  • Salary dumps you take the contract, no altering or smoothing it over more years. Most likely lower clubs can afford these not the top sides
  • if you make a prelim so top 4 to gain a FA you need to lose a FA
  • trade same deal as above

I know a lot of clubs arent happy about whats happened but rules are rules currently
How do you determine salary dumps? Scully was a salary dump but could be argued that it was a legitimate trade same as Collingwood trading Grundy

Unless we pull of some deals there will be some young players getting paid a truck load of cash over the next couple of years at our club .

I can't even imagine how we are hitting the minimum TPP next season at this rate. We will be like that company in the US where every employee gets paid the same amount.

maybe they pay the entirety of Mitchell money next year in an attempt to boost the compensation coming back from Collingwood
