Tassie Government still willing to give us decent $$ to play games there when they're already going to be spending significant $$ on the team and stadium?

Wonder if the Tassie taxpayers would be happy about that
We are the reason they were able to make a case for the team. We have also supported them in doing so

The afl surely wouldn't want another team competing for supporters when they are trying to build Tassie's supporter base.
It will build more people and maybe even a bigger games if the hawks play home games down there against Tassie

I suspect hawthorn are going to be huge supporters of Tassie side, on and off field.

I also bet that although the AFL gave north a Tassie Cade my and aflw team, that Tassie get doughnuts from them

They are like your sponging relative from overseas

Let’s say we play two games there.

Can someone please explain to be how we benefit from a game v Devils where we give up home ground advantage. It will pull 23K which is less than what it will draw in Melbourne. And our second games v an interstate club will be in front of less than 10k. How does that benefit us? Might as well sell a game to Norwood.

I would prefer our club aspire to be a big club. The AFL fixture is a self fulfilling prophecy. The more home games you sell, the more low drawing games you get. Melbourne play 10 MCG games so there is more opportunity for them to be fixtured in big games compared to our current six. We cannot let this opportunity to get on a level footing with the other MCG club slip.

Wouldn’t we play at UTAS?

10k members in Tasmania?

The AFL has sold a game to Adelaide on our behalf

We could be (probably will be) rostered as an away team. Leverage might give our members access to the Tassie home game The ones which don’t switch to Tassie that is

1. There will be a lot less money on offer than we currently get now.
2. I prefer home ground advantage. What is the point of more money? If you make less, the AFL just gives you more.
Everything we get from that stadium is ours. Its like GMHBA you don't need 40k like you do in Melbourne to break even.
Playing on that ground is a home ground advantage.

Most of the money we get from Tas is from the government sponsorship. Do you really think that (without sponsorship) we make more from 10k at UTAS than 25k @ MCG? Do you know how the replacement games work?

Plus, If we are play the Devils we will be giving them home ground/crowd advantage. Pass.

You do not know what a clean stadium is do you. The AFL and the MCC and other entities get a cut from the gate receipt at the MCG. No such incumberance down at home away from home

I'd suggest if anyone wants to know the exact justifications for continuing to play games in Tasmania that they write a letter to Andy Gowers, or go to the AGM and ask your question to the board.

Devils home ground is in Hobart

We would play a home game against them in Launceston

The crowd is the main factor regarding home ground advantage. Witness the Pies not getting multiple frees in the last quarter yesterday. Crowd in Launceston will be ten to one in their favour. It will be like playing a home game in Geelong v Geelong. Madness.

I do. Do you how much we have to pay other Vic clubs for our replacement games? Hundreds of thousands. It makes sense when Tas are our major sponsor, but the gate receipts from 8k v GWS/Freo/Port/GC will barely cover what we have to pay the other MCG tenants for replacement games. 8k x $20 is only $160k.

We have 10,000 members in Tassie, who would get priority if we were to host the Devils at UTAS

And you can bet it would be a sellout, so even if some of those members changed to Devils members, they would still buy a Hawks membership ( a 2 game Tassie Hawks membership) to guarantee themselves a seat
