I don't think Jeka has a single fast-twitch muscle fibre in his whole body...

Needs to grow a heart first before I'm worried about fast twitch muscle fibres!

Hardwick is about 26. You don't hold onto a Back Pocket like Morris because your current BP only has 6yrs left In his career.

He’d have more than 6 in him too - he’s been fairly durable and is ultra consistent. No reason he can’t go around until 34ish if his for continues to hold up. I doubt Morris is going to hang around on the list waiting for Dimma to fade out particularly now that Seamus is ahead of him.

Morris and Lynch the locks.

Probably need at least two more

I say this as someone who has never had an axe to grind with Wingard during his tenure but we have looked a faster, more capable and dangerous side without him since his absence. I honestly can’t see him being on the list next year.

We need one at each end and then a third tall forward, I feel good about the rest of our list.

I agree we also need another top winger, and another high pressure tackling small forward like Poppy and Rioli were also as I feel.

Butler will replace Breust
Brockman- Poppy
Rioli type who can scare opponents with there closing down runs and tackling.

Morris had a run of good form then got injured and now Seamus has passed him. Morris is a goer and Hardwick is getting older. I would not be rushing him out the door.
The fact that Bailey McD has debut ahead of Morris suggests he is back in the pecking order and in trouble. I don't reckon he kicks it well enough.

At the moment he is just not fit enough was sucking in the big ones and cramping badly in the last qtr last week. He is behind the 8 ball for sure

Wanted to put down in print the number of players in our side that have room for improvement to see what our list looks like.

Cooked:
Wingard
Breust
Frost
Lynch

Top of game/same output each week:
Sic
Amon
Hardwick
Lewis
Newk
Nash
Day
Impey
Worpel

Yet to peak:
Brocky
Seamus
Reeves
Kosi
Meek
CJ
CMac28
CMac31
Blanck
Scrimmers
Bramble - maybe he is at his best?
Morrison - see Bramble
Weddle
Butsy
Ramma
Long
Ward

Yet to debut/early days/haven't cracked the side:
JOS
BMac42
Bennetts
Serong
Stephens
O Hara
Ryan
Tucker
Morris
Jeka
Magginess

There is a logjam in that yet to peak group which is great news for list depth. Some absolute quality in there. Looks to be a lot of upside and some genuine match winners.

Would be nice in 12 months time to have another 2 emerging talls in the middle group. McCabe and hopefully Serong on the rise with Ramma. CHB up for grabs got to replace Frosty asap.

It does highlight to me that Morris and Jeka look like they have missed the boat just can't get on the park with any continuity. Also when you consider the depth in mids, Magginess looks to be in trouble.

Morrison and Bramble look to be under the pump. If I'm keeping one it's Bramble.

I would think 6 list changes at least.

Lynch
Wingard
Jeka
Morris
Magginess
Morrison

why is breust cooked? do you mean that he has no room for improvement?

Pre the Brissy game, Punky is averaging the most scoring shots per game of his entire career this season. he'd be on track for a 50-goal season if he was as accurate as he normally is. obviously losing touch around goals is a part of getting older but cooked, if not in the sense of there's no improvement left, is not fair at all

I reckon this is a pretty good summary.

I like Morris and think he can get back to AFL. Injured at a really bad time. He is a South Aussie and we might get a 4th rounder for him if he goes home but I wouldn't delist until we see any offers. I am also OK if we give a 1 yr extension.

I fear Sam's game plan does not suit Magginess and not sure he would get a trade. Chad seems excess to needs now and we may get something for him if he is keen to continue at AFL. Id keep Morrison for another year.
So all up, I suspect we may receive a 4th and 3rd in any combo of trade AT BEST.

We have a really young list and it would be better to keep our fringe ~22 yr old's rather than bring in tooo many more youngsters via draft from around pick 50 onwards.

It's fasinating to me to see Wingard, Ward, Morrison, Morris, Maginess in the twos, and Lynch/CJ out of action, and we have players coming in and performing the roles well.

As recently as last year many of these names (aside from Wingard) were the ticket to a rise up the ladder.

Serong will be kept.
Frost only for depth as long we don’t find a trade.
Maguiness is gone.

Poor Finn - seems that Connor being able to shut down an opponent really stamped his papers.

I’d include DGB in the yet to peak list. It’s quite possible he and McCabe and maybe Caddy could plug our KP gaps but they will be a few years away from being able to do that. Ramma may well be a KPF as well but he is also going to take time, if he makes it at all that is. It would be ideal if Kosi could maintain his recent form and be a solid contributor even if he doesn’t often star. The future is tantalisingly close!!

Morris and Lynch the locks.

Probably need at least two more

Jeka & O’Hara are the other players that face the possibility of being delisted.

I wouldn’t be surprised if players like Bramble, Morrison & even Maginness are told to look “elsewhere” as the club start getting games into B.MacDonald & Hustwaite.

Hard to not get carried away after a good win, but it pays to remember that things are never as good or as bad as they seem.

That being said, I think we’ve nailed our last 2 years of list management, and we now get to move towards plugging the few holes left.

I’m not as big on desperately needing a key defender as others are. Blanck looks like he will be a decent lock down defender, DGB will be more of a tall intercept who spoils with intent, and with McCabe in the wings we will have a good suite of tall defenders under 23.

I’d love another wingman, but my bigger concern is the forward half, as I think we need more of an aerial presence and some class, particularly in the form of a focal point at half forward

I actually really like the mid season drafting of Ryan, as I hope he may prove to be an awkward but efficient forward target with sticky mits, much like Johnny Barker once was for us 20 yrs ago. I’m obviously big on Ramma too.

If we manage to draft Duursma, Caddy or Watson, and trade in Georgiades I will be very happy with how our forward half has been restocked.

How Serong finishes the second half of the year in the VFL could very well determine whether or not he gets a new contract extension. He actually played quite well as the third tall defender against Brisbane on the weekend.

O’Hara is a category B rookie. I expect he will be given more time to learn the game.

It will be because he couldn't bring more to his own game, not what others matched or surpassed from his.
