It sounds like Miller is not exactly a star for his school and that the school rested the regular full back against what was obviously a weak opposition. Must have something going for him though!
Yeah I agree, not the star but nevertheless a record that no one else has beaten, and schools mismatches must happen across the country all the time?

When I was told Kurt had TAC committments I followed up because I had not seen him there previously. Wondering if it was just because of school holidays? At any rate he either a)didnt fair well, b)played mostly on the bench c) or was injured - if c) then might be the real reason not in Sydney.

Stats here. See if he gets another game this week.

Normally high scorers in Union are place kickers, so he must be a good one but might not get a game at the Hawks as we already have quite a few good place kickers:

There's a lot to work with in these boys.

Kurt has been very impressive in his application to training and learning. He's a huge kid, still slightly robotic in his motion(natural for a code switcher), but he shows a real competitive edge. Reading between the lines of him crossing to Melbourne for school, then playing at Box Hill, and now TAC level, it seems like the club is very keen to see him amongst other talented kids. Coupled with his inclusion amongst the senior bystanders at Box Hill on occasion, I'd suggest he's a monty to make it onto our list in some official capacity once his scholarship runs out.

Shem and Rhys could be anything. Huge units, and extremely talented.

I am not 100% sure of this, but I believe that if we list them, they would be listed as International Rookies and these spots are additional to the regular allowance for rookie players.

There is no limit to how many rookies a team has on their list, provided it fits within their cap.

Was there something about players from OS not being included in the cap? If thats the case, it really is a free hit with these guys.

I thought so as well. I hope so. There should be a reward for a club like Hawthorn doing something quite different, recalling that there's a bit of risk involved, and it requires some additional resources.

Just checked out the stats for young Kurt in his handful of TAC Cup matches, and the stats are pretty promising... He is getting the ball, taking marks and laying plenty of tackles, exactly what you want from a young guy

Especially a young tall, hope his development keeps improving like it has been.

Pic of Ben Miller on Instagram training at Hawthorn yesterday. Apparently played in Box Hill intraclub match last week.
