tough game to get through, all been dissected here pretty well. Was getting so frustrated with the "intercept marks" just outside 50 going forward.. I thought the Swans must have had 15 players continually parked there and they just clunked it and then threw it up the other for Bud or the other 2 players that were there to try to score...a gameplan that worked last night.

Won't be watching the replay, but i did like Gerard's shit-eating grin at the end, he did have a spring in his step and would have slept well last night. only thing is, he knows its not going to be like that in September...

ok, thats enough of Sydney for now, time to get back to work for next 4 games starting with Lions..

Structurally i think the development of Sicily is the most important after watching last night.

If he can bring the ball the ground more to stop intercept marks, Bruest and Poppy will kick more and allows for forward pressure.

You dont win premierships in May and you had about 6 outs, so likely to be different ball game at the SCG later in the year.

All the best re:Roughy, met the bloke and he is a stellar human.

I keep wondering when Lewis will be dropped...

Do we need this kind of post right now?

The answer is no, his best mate is fighting cancer and he was out there trying his guts out last night, he didn't play badly either.

If Jordan needs time off to deal with Roughy then by all means the club will give it to him.

Would be nice if all our supporters would actually get behind him right now.

They're still learning. Check out their grabs though. A lot to like here. A bit of mongrel from both which is essential. If we can get our midfield working then I believe our forwards will hold up.

Maybe we need to fast track O'Rourke...

What do you suggest they do

Are you joking?

Disgraceful post.

1. His best mate has just been diagnosed with cancer. It was clear form the 360 interview his mind would be elsewhere.

2. He has been our best midfielder over the last 2 weeks. Led from the front in the Richmond game. His third quarter against Fremantle turned the game.

3. We have no one currently playing in box hill that banging down the door that will provide greater output than Lewis. We are going for our 4th premiership in a row. It is important that Jordan Lewis is playing good football come September, instead of gifting games to some young bloke.

4. The guy is a 4 time premiership player. Currently the captain of our club. He should be shown some ****ing respect. He has earned the right to be given a chance to find form. Clarkson clearly has the same view.

This board has slowly been turning to shit over the past few years. It's because of "supporters" like you.

Didn't watch the game. But kept an eye on the score all night.

From the look of things the boys were as flat as a tack from the start and you can't blame them after the events of the week.

What this game reinforced is that Swans supporters are the worst in the league by a mile. Lack any class. Well done on your round 8 win .
I'm not so sure about that as I thought we were on at the start, we controlled the ball, we hit targets, we tackled, we won clearances and were running, but as with the Nab cup we just could not hit the score board to save ourselves, once that happened for 20 minutes we may have run out drive on top of everything else thats been spoken about compounding it until the third Qtr.

Not sure if this already posted. Lewis comeback to swans at the end. I hope losing still cuts a bit more than that, looking at these early season efforts they still arent up for it yet, plenty of time tho given we have a "soft" month ahead

One thing i found absolute bulls**** was when buddy kicked that goal from 60-70m out the player on the mark was blocked out by not one, but two players. I understand we do it a lot with 1-1 contests but i felt that was unfair as if our player came in it could have led to a 50m penalty

I'm all for posters having an opinion and I've put myself off side with the so called "mafia" :smirk: in support of posters opinions, but the posts in relation to Lewis today is really at an all time low. There is no need for personal attacks, especially because of the circumstances but also because he is not the only one struggling this season. These players have had four years of shortened pre-seasons (much to our delight) and surely we have to respect that the bodies must be starting to feel the wear and tear of that journey and that emotionally it must also be tough.

Lewis has stood shoulder to shoulder with ruff day in day out for 12 years now. They stood for each other at their weddings, they are best friends and while this is a professional sport they are still human and he and another in cyril will be feeling this more than most

A little bit of respect wouldn't hurt

Dont understand the calls for Sicily to be dropped. Best contested mark we've had at the club since Jade Rawlings.
Had the run in the 1st quarter but couldnt put it on the board. Swans did not allow the kick over the top all night (see Grundy 25 disposals).

To lose by 14pts considering how horrible we played wasnt a bad thing, but we certainly aren't in the premiership window at the moment and I think teams arent intimidated by us as much anymore. We'll still get a few more scalps and no doubt some big wins along the way. Premierships are never won in May.

Thought Hartung tried hard but he just takes that extra second to make a decision.
I hear you, but at least he isn't just bombing blindly - he tries to escape or create, which can lead to stuff ups.

The more frustrating thing for me is when Hartung or Hill or Smith get it, start to run and they look up there is nothing to kick to, or worse, all our forwards are standing in each others hip pockets allowing a massive pack to form, which than creates the long bomb from our runners that than leads to rebound run and gun we struggle to contain, instead of spreading the defense and taking marks from leading at the ball carrier.

Still more than half the season to go to get this sorted out :thumbsu:

Gee it's good (and yet bad) watching Heeney. You gotta great player there!

Hartung and Sicily are two of the best young crop at the moment. Both really attack the ball and use their traits to at least try there heart out even if they make the occasional mistake.

TOB. Go to a footy ground today and just practice that same set shot 100 times. Hadve you kicked that it was another reason we could've won.
