Dealing with midfield pressure is of concern. Don't like Whitecross as a sub either, but probably more to do with work load management than strategy.

Hill needs to work on his opposite side.

Dureya kept trying, he is best 22 for mine. Lake took some great marks. Wouldn't mind seeing Gibbo and Stratton swap positions. I think knocking our forwards after today is a cop out, the mids got rattled by the pressure and delivery suffered.

On the bright side ... at least we're not going to be carrying the burden of having to lose one into finals. We were off today. It happens. We will cream StKilda next weekend and hopefully build some form into finals with a challenging run home of Collingwood, North and Sydney. Win 3 of those and we will get a home PF. We're in a very good position.

Outcoached, players out classed. God help us if we play a final in windy or wet condition, we do not try to adjust! Very dissapointing

Weather was irrelevant. Outplayed long before the rain came. It was just party time late in the game when we had completely switched off and they were cashing in.

I sure hope we play better next week, the lower teams often seem to bother us..even the Saints..
Lake tried his guts out all day, and Mitch, but Sewell? No.Didn't even see him..Well, I am off for my walk in the rain...:D

I see you've acknowledged Lake and Mitch.

Would they be deserving of a point for "effort"?

Geelong and Richmond both seem to be able to consistently dismantle us, and they are both teams cut from a similar cloth. Both have a fast but physically strong midfield that can shrug tackles and break from the contest if they win the ball, or alternatively quickly close the distance to pressure our ball carrier and nullify our skilled ball movement if they don't win the ball. We don't seem to have an answer for it.

But what is really troubling is that game style - fast, frenetic and high pressure - is the closest simulation to finals footy and we constantly get shown up. The baby isn't thrown out yet, and the bathwater is still in the tub, but jeez it's a worry.

What really hurts is that we failed to show up after half time. To be killed in the clearances in the first quarter, grind our way back - and keep them to 0.2 for the quarter & then lose our way when going forward is really disheartening.

Hodge was really ineffective today. Then again, he had quite a few mates.

Well, there's the line in the sand. And we've got plenty of work to do in the coming 8 weeks.

Bruest still looks tired.

Not worried about this game. Similar to when we play Geelong, the opposition get themselves up and go harder than what we doing knowing it may result in a loss the following week, but beating a Hawthorn makes 'us' look good.

You can tell how switched on Hawthorn are. When they're not awake they just bomb the ball in the F50 or kick to a lead 5m over their head.

Hale is a fantasy footballers dream. Scores points, but never really impacts a game.

On today's performance hill to make way for Sheils next week & goo out for birchall, could easily be so many more...can't allow this to happen again.

Lake was as loose as a mad woman's shit early on. His efforts helped get the Tigers up and going.

I've given him 1 vote simply because he did take a lot of grabs and improved with the game (and because all his team mates were crap) but he needs to be a lot better than what he was in the first quarter. McGuane FFS.
