Sam is the antithesis of Bevo as a coach. Bevo represents maximum intervention, he makes too many changes at selection even off the back of wins, and he doesn't allow players to settle into roles on the field. I'm not sure he's had the same back 6 for a full game this year, let alone for them to string multiple together.

Sam represents faith in the players to have a role, stick to it and turn it around even if things are going poorly for the time being. Moving players around is an absolute roll of the dice for him and you can see that he gives the players every opportunity to turn the game by themselves.

Kane is so far off my hate list. We didn’t want our club to be in the crosshairs when he was talking about our list 3-4 years ago, but history shows he was dead on. He’s deliberately provoking and says some s**t to get clicks/views but he’s a fairly astute judge.

As one eyed Hawk fans there was a lot of things we either didn’t want to or couldn’t see. He called out the decision to re-tool rather than re-build pretty early on. We all really just wanted the success to continue and thought just because we’re Hawthorn that we’d contend forever.

This why having no one to challenge Clarko at all levels was a recipe for disaster. We really needed someone to say no it’s time to tear it down and start again but all those people had already left.

Eh, he’s been ok recently, and clearly respects Sam. However his critique of us wasn’t just 3-4 years ago, it was last year. He said we had “no young talent”, our only good players were 28yo and older, and “Sams been set up to fail as a coach” because we had the “worst list in the comp”.

I took little notice then, and take little notice now.
