Please don’t bring Barrett’s sliding doors rubbish here. That’s not the Hawthorn footy club in the media.

That’s a desperate article, trying to get clicks every week.

Matty Lloyd complimenting Hawthorn and Sam Mitchell? We must surely be in the end times right now. good luck with the apocolypse everyone
Lloyd in my opinion is the best football analyst in the media
Buckley a close second

Neither are interested in carrying their rivalry against clubs when playing into their thoughts when commenting

I thought I read recently that Hodge told a sportsmen night that they’d explore moving back to Melbourne when Cooper was draft age.

Wouldn't surprise me, I guess it depends on how Cooper's trajectory looks over the next 24 months - the Ashcrofts made the move down partly because Marcus was the AFL National Talent Pathways Manager for a few years so would've known that Will was a solid chance of getting drafted.

Hodgey's media career seems to be ramping up a bit so a move back might not be out of the realm of possibility. That said, fairly certain they just bought a new house up there so who knows.

What we learnt -SEN.

Hawthorn are coming, and it could be sooner than we expect

Hawthorn produced one of the upsets of the season on Saturday as they dismantled Collingwood 105-73 at the MCG.

While the result on paper looked stunning, those who have kept a close eye on the Hawks wouldn’t be so surprised.

After beating fellow top-four side Brisbane at the venue by 25 points in Round 13 and holding a five-goal lead against Richmond at three-quarter time - before crumbling - at the ‘G in Round 18 … signs were there that Hawthorn’s game absolutely stands up against quality sides.

While they’re obviously young, the Hawks are beginning to mature in front of our eyes, while Sam Mitchell simply out-coached Craig McRae.

Young guns Will Day (29 disposals), Jai Newcombe (one goal, 28 disposals) and Josh Ward (23 disposals) absolutely bullied Collingwood’s more experienced midfield, claiming an 18-3 centre clearance victory.

With that part of the ground taken care of, captain James Sicily down back brings genuine class to an already hard-working back six, while they’re now getting genuine spread up forward.

There are signs in every part of the ground that the Hawks are building, and while they’ll probably finish bottom three in 2023, there’s every chance they could be 2024’s huge riser.

If they continue their current trajectory, these well-coached Hawks could be playing finals as soon as next season.

That was quick.
Thanks for posting, absolutely brilliant.

Anyone who isn't thinking of reading this, it contains this:

No doubt the sight of their former star (Tom Mitchell) watching on from the sidelines as his removal from the game made zero difference to the on-ball domination or the Pies’ ability to stop their spread would have made for some delicious, Damian Barrett-flavoured schadenfreude for the brown and gold army.

Also Hodgey played a pretty straight bat when asked about Cooper tonight. Basically said he’d be happy to play for either club but there’s “a long long way to go”.

Definitely didn't want to give them anything on Cooper. Nor should he. The kid is 15 and doesn't need that type of pressure lumped on him this far out.

I did like him making a strong case for Sicily to be AA. I think he might have even been suggesting at one point that he should be named captain given his importance to his side.

Plenty of positives in it obviously but it’s still pushing the completely false narrative of Newcombe hacking the ball forward. It’s extraordinary how people just can’t overlook his mid season drafting and bulky frame and continue to assume that translates to poor skills.

So insightful....

Never mind the story leads with we 'don't have the cattle' to play it safe, and it's the 'most admirable thing about us'.

Dead-set WTF territory there.

Weddle ahead of some very impressive names.
The best part is the kid is very much an unfinished product that hasn’t even scratch the surface of his potential. Gonna be an absolute star if he puts the work in because he is blessed with tools that others could only dream of. Surely his debut season has eased the concerns for anyone that doubted MM + Co for trading up to get him.

Keep squirming.

Oh my .....are we sure this clip isn't an AI generated Deep Fake by Hawk fans?

Lying about what he said when saying "I made one comment" when he was attacking Hawthorn in his column for weeks making pointed allegations that not kicking enough goals 'was the plan'... Squirming when told he is being rightfully mocked for the worst take of the year by Hawk fans... Now adding more illogical comments like talking about our ladder position like he did to Nat Edwards on AAA Monday, as if that retorts the list moves we made the very weekend after our midfield smashed Tom Mitchell's (subbed out of the game if you don't mind) Collingwood 18-3! yes 18-3.... Weare clearly heading in the right direction and quickly while his beloved North are several years into a rebuild and putting their hands out for more handouts "please sir, can we have some more....".

Delicious.

Wow, the saints bullied us and when we match a side physically, we are the ‘nasty’ hawks

Did slobbo see nasty Sicily help Nick daicos to his feet?
It's a compliment. He is just comparing this team to the three-peat team.

I'm good with it. Loved it back when we had a hard edge, happy to see it return PROVIDED we have the on-field chops to back it up.

He will be gushing.
On the little I caught big his radio show last night he did say that while Sam thinks we have most of the pieces for our next premiership side in place, he, Cornes, thinks we might only have around ten premiership-ready players in the current squad. He did not list who he thinks they are, or if he did, he did so after I had to turn off. It was a bit of a throw away line from memory.

I wonder if he argues that there is a form of being pregnant. You either tank or you don’t tank. *head.
