Just like last years thread, whatever Barrett has to say is not Hawthorn in the media.

Couldn’t care less for his shit takes, they don’t belong here.

No offense to SMC but he is hardly in Locketts league.

I'm talking about having the best player in a specialist position like ruck (ie Gawn) and then recruiting the second best player in that position (Grundy).

We had Dunstall (arguably the best full forward ever) and then recruited SMC (probably not even in the top 50 full forwards list). SMC was the very definition of a journeyman.
There is no doubt Dunstall was one of the greats, but he wasn't even the best full forward at Hawthorn. ;)

The social media team, who 18 months ago many were frustrated with due to the minimal content are now crushing it and the buy in from the players on this side has really enhanced the image of the club. The joy within the group, not just the AFL side but also the VFL boys, the AFLW and VFLW sides is contagious and the numbers from the AFL article show that the views we are getting are trending upwards significantly.

For a club that is looking to continue growing and gaining supporters, there is nothing more powerful right now than fun, harmless content on social media platforms that drive engagement and get eyes on us. I've got friends who have kids who are now supporting Hawthorn because of the celebrations and the fun they are having. It really does sound like a simple formula but actually executing it is not easy.

Here's hoping that we can continue to evolve as a team and convert the pure enjoyment we are witnessing on the field into premiership success in the coming years.
Like many times before, how long will it be before opposition vultures come to steal our resources?

Mitchell saw where the future of the game was heading and has dragged the club out of the dark ages into it.

This is both in terms of media and fan engagement, and on the field with the ball movement.

Old heads will complain about the celebrations, etc, but the younger generation love it. It's infectious amongst the group too and builds that comradery - anyone who has played footy as any level will have experienced this.

The evolution has been amazing to watch unfold this season.
I’m an old head and I love it

Talking Footy interview with the coach.

Could listen to Sammy talk football for hours. Chuck him on a panel with Bucks and I'd tune in every day of the week.

Some of Crawf’s goals shown on the Front Bar were amazing. Gut busting running at its finest. Imagine the hysteria if someone like Naicos kicked a goal like that these days!
The lasting memory that i have of Crawf apart from 2008 was the goal saving tackle against Geelong Michael Mansfield running into an open goal. I was there. He played a great game and kicked some great goals but that tackle i stood up and saluted him Oh Captain my Captain

The front bar is by far my favourite football related show. Not all jokes hit the mark but it's not contrived or forced like the footy show crap from years a go . Some really funny , humurous one line darts thrown in by Sam pang in particular. And I like the selection of guests as well. Crawf was awesome this week.

As a Front Bar tweeted, bridged the 80s crew until 2008, the connection to Yabby from Finley and early career advice. Pretty much had BOGs in all ways he could, forward, tacking someone out of the game, mid and defence.

I thought they were going to touch on him walking to training in 08, recovering from a hammy. Mistimed it and had to run!

Hope he is happy in life.

Two great candidates. I'd favour Day because I think he can take his game to that absolute top level and there's value in having a captain like that, but Moore is a natural and very impressive leader and communicator.
Moore is already rated elite in a number of key performance measures, so he doesn't lack anything re Will Day re that... Isn;t it great that we have (as a poster here has already noted) a number of promising leadership candidates like them and others.

Very under rated player because he made a living being an entertainer too.

Ginni should look at him as a role model - was a peacock but also always fit and a great captain.

Was so happy to see him win his last game.

Agreed. That it’s now national says it all. Good fun show.
I remember when it was a 15 minute segment on afl.com
Crawf was brilliant last night. He is such a good guy.

This is the type of player Ward should focus on becoming as a point of difference to Day, Newcombe, Mackenzie etc.

Crawford in his prime.

I stopped watching after the pie in the face episode. I couldn’t believe it lasted so long after that. The Front Bar, is probably one of the last remaining variety shows on FTA now. Miss the times when you had shows like The Glass House, Spics and Specks, Rove, The Panel ect.

Spicks and specks is back on abc Sunday evenings

Looks like they’ve removed it, something along the lines of “one journalist even accused them of tanking - whilst in the AFLs dime”
They haven't removed it, they have rearranged it. It's still there:
