Most people happy to hang Frankin out when he has mental health issues as having a third strike and other assorted drug issues.

Hawks players allegedly sexually assaults a woman and the player is the victim.

Double standards are in full swing.

Who said the player is the victim?

I love how the narrative is "not premiership player" now....... watering down a very serious crime.

Some of the communication specialists need to be held to account.
Possibly because "premiership player" was being spread like fire, and in particular 1 name, as if it was fact.....the statement correcting it to a "non premiership player" reset the rumour mill, and put an end to the defaming of one player in particular via social media and sites like this.

Yeah that was poor too.

Narrowing it down like this only makes it worse because it comes across as the hfc distancing itself, washing its hands, etc.. from a 'lesser' player so-to-speak, in other words he/they is/are not really one of 'us'. It gives the impression that Hawthorn are mostly concerned about how it reflects on their recent flag.

Whether the player/s was/were part of a flag is irrelevant, he's a Hawthorn player end of story. And coming out with a statement just make the hfc look even worse, it is utterly distasteful and tacky.

If you take it as the club distancing itself from the player under investigation, there's not much that can be done about that.

I see it as the club clarifying clear errors in media reporting and thus reducing the extent to which people will speculate as to the identity. Fact is, rightly or wrongly, the player not being part of the 2015 premiership team makes it less salacious.

If that lets the media focus more on drafting and player trading and permits the investigation to take its course under a softer spotlight, I'm content with that outcome.

Rubbish. The issue is that the media reported false information. They reported two players when according to the club there is only one under investigation. Channel 7 narrowed it down to premiership players when according to the club that is false. And malicious cretins on this site are others went into overdrive naming individuals that had nothing to do with it. One player in particular was having his reputation maliciously slandered with no good reason.

Was the club supposed to allow the media and low life's to narrow it down to a group of people, none of whom is the alleged wrongdoer? That makes no sense at all. The club is entitled and in my view bound to correct false information that is leading to allegations being made about innocent employees.

Wonder if the Herald Sun will do all the interviews and then hold them for a year and release them on grand final eve if hawks make it again???

Gilding the lily a bit there mate. Hawthorn were correcting an error which was designed to sensationalise. Are you syaing they should correct one non fact but leave another unsaid ? The same people would bnow be saying hfc were wronf to withold information

His name will come out in time. I'm not condoning his actions and think it is a disgraceful act.

However, at this point in time, the people involved have a right to innocence until it is clear what actually happened. Naming the player has really no relevance in the matter, other than feeding those so desperate to want gossip.

And finally what more can the HFC do in this situation? I'm sure if the person in question is found guilty, the Hawks will deal with it in an appropriate manner. At this time, we don't know whether he/they are in fact guilty.

Well it looks like it was fact and that the Hawks tried their best to cover it up.

Its was common sense if that player was 'helping with investigation' he was likely involved/let it happen.
