Wrong. Hawks did what they had to do by the rules of the AFL.
Correct. For reference below, once the HFC had the report outlining serious allegations they were duty bound by the AFL’s protocol to hand over the report to the AFL integrity unit.

I will pin this post, as it seems to be a constant query.

Apparently she’s doing a job on him again tomorrow.
This one?

Fresh allegations of controlling behaviour have emerged against former Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson. But this time the accusations relate to non-Indigenous past players and notably the current coach Sam Mitchell.

The details surround Clarkson’s unsympathetic treatment of Mitchell during the 2011 season, the year Mitchell’s wife Lyndall gave birth to twin girls and the family was beset by a number of confronting health problems.

Yep, nothing new in that article. In fact will go to the defence right or wrong and regardless of skin colour that’s how Clarkson ran the ship.

Exactly. Just a smear campaign run by Caro.

Common knowledge that players were asked to hand in their phones the night before that Sydney game. Yet Sam said he needed to stay in contact with Lyndall re the twins and was permitted to do so.

Caro desperate to throw mud at Clarko and bury him right now. She'd wanna be careful considering the lawyers he has lined up, locked and loaded.

This was all covered in Sam’s book. He considered leaving as a result. Hardly fresh…

I was working night shift at a Richmond hotel in 2011, and the club put up Mitchell several times to assist with his game day preparation. It certainly didn't hurt his or the team's performance that year.

I was amused when he was awarded the 2011 Sports Father of the Year award, given the times he was getting a good night's sleep away from his family. Slightly different context attached to those stays now.

I’m sure lots of people have received them, but the supposed report and email exchanges are now doing the rounds publicly

Also some contacting of past players for dirt. Not much seems to have come from that though apart from some vague confirmation that clarkson was a control freak.

Interesting saw an article about Dane swan selling the house that collingwood made him buy so he’d move out from living with his scaly mates. Ultimatum to move or forget about an afl career.

This sort of stuff would have happened all the time. It’s just not something you can do as a white man in a position of power to a young vulnerable indigenous footballer away from home. That’s the point that I’m not sure Clarko gets.

I understand Hodge's point of view here, but just because he appreciated and responded well to the type of strong handed guidance they gave doesn't mean it's the correct course of action across the board.

Must say i am a bit surprised Hodgey has entered the arena here. Its a very complex situation already, with accusations being thrown and denied left, right and centre, with likely long and costly legal proceedings for all.

Whether the right or wrong thing to do, he obviously feels very strongly about Clarkson, Fagan and Burt.

This is to be expected and I am surprised it has taken this long. Up till now we have seen a one way stream of attack at Fagan, Clarko and Burt.

But these guys have been in footy a long time and will have plenty of support from former players like Hodgey. Fages in particular I feel has a great rapport with his players, you can see it in what he has created in Brissy.

And for Hodgey I don't think he has stated anything too inflammatory. He has just started his lived experience which is all any of us can do TBH. I don't think he is putting doubt on the findings of the report just giving context.

They’ve been printed by the herald sun

That is the worst article she has ever written and that is saying something. The media applauded removing phones as a genius coach move. She has just copied and pasted straight out of Sam’s book in which he explains his relationship with Clarko. Does she think he would have come back to work as his assistant if he actually had any problem?

I'm not that surprised. He was getting drawn into it anyway and people were inferring things from comments he'd made about the Clarko Show, need for Clarkson to not have yes men around him etc and would infer any number of things from his continued silence. This way he sets the record straight on his true feelings towards these three men. It's not the safe move but it's an honest one.

There are articles from an on the couch appearance in 2014 where Luke was asked about one particular player, his response then is very similar to what he has said recently albeit with context drawing on his own experience.

He won’t be the only one to be questioned and drawn in to commenting on this unfortunate mess.

It's really quite weird. Last year her theme was that Sam was the guilty party undermining poor Clarko.
Last year Clarkson’s manager leaked to her.
This may be more of the same, because this latest article helps paint Clarkson as just a hard task master, rather than racist.

We’re all adults here, I’d like to hope at least, so that means people should engage their brains as to why something is being written rather than just lining up to take a shot at the messenger.

If you’re going to use the article as just another reason to say some crass shit about Caro it will get removed.

Not sure anyone genuinely believes is a racist. Just that he has acted inappropriately by abusing the power of position. Similar to situations in any workplace. For example, if you are a manager. It is inappropriate to ask one of your team out (implied pressure to do what the boss says), but it may be ok for a manager to ask his boss or another manager out.

So, Clarko’s controlling may be (borderline) appropriate for a bunch of white guys like Hodge, but not appropriate fr vulnerable young indiginous guys.

Many, probably including Clarko, cannot see the difference.

He has been asked over and over to weigh in. This way he has had his say, made it entirely personal about his time, hasnt commented on the ones making allegations because he said he doesnt know about their claims, and now can point to his statement in future.

Im glad he did it. He was captain throughout those years. He needed to say something. And now has. It saves him potentially a year or 2 of being asked why he wont say anything.
