Just embarrassing. It's one thing to get belted by a better team, but we just seemed to give up, as we've seemed to every game this year.
Yeah, I think you're going to have to get used to us "giving up" for another 18 games.

We may pinch a win here and there though.

Had Geelong kicked straight we would have gone down by 100+. What happened to this group, we got a core premiership team still. Cyril, Gunston,Poppy, Breust cameo appearances. Something is not right. Saints licking their lips because they are going to get the #1 pick..I'd rate Sydney better than this group. Which makes the Jaeger trade a big loss. Who would want to come to hawthorn now? Makes you wonder the coin Jaeger is on if some players are not too happy.

Geez that was just awful to watch in so many ways....hopefully it can't get any worse and at some point soon we will improve but my god we look terrible. We are the definition of fallen off the cliff right now. Hats off to Hodgey for a gutsy effort and good to see Sicily back in and clunking some marks.

Hartung was not horrible, how about point the finger at senior players?

Well he isn't going to get any better by dominating at Box Hill, being brought in then dropped every second week. He is one of the few who takes the game on

I saw him take the game on - then deliver a hospital hand pass to some teammate standing still between three cats. He was not alone I agree. This team is playing with zero confidence and even less structure.

I hope that Gibson gets a couple of weeks, so that at least he gets dropped. We need to be playing some youth in defence right now, and he is past it. Sorry Josh. As soon as Heatherly is fit, I would probably play him in that role.

Brand, Sicily and in particular Burton look promising.
Hardwick showed enough, deserves an extended crack at it.
Langford and O'Brien should never play at AFL level again. love the endeavour guys but you're just not good enough.

we have too many 'jobbers'

Hodge is a star

3aw - Hawthorn has lost consecutive games by 10+ goals for the first time since Rounds 8-9, 2006.

moving forward
Hodge n roughead are the only 2 blokes that should be in our team over 30+.
give gibbo and silk a farewell game...

in jor,willsmore,howe, jager.

take your pick who u want out just dont drop any kids . put all the players on notice.

If anyone here thinks this team won't finish bottom 4 you might as well go follow chess in Russia. ONLY Brisbane are currently worse. Yes, Carlton and North Melbourne are better. The best this team can finish is 15th and that's only being hopeful that North Melbourne and Carlton manage to be worse. They will be 1-10 at the half way mark of the season and will be lucky to win 5 games. Look at the fixture and tell me I'm wrong.
Get angry all you like, abuse me whatever because deep down you all know it's the truth.
The fact Tim O'brien played today sums up where the club are at the moment.
Stewart, miles, Howe, brand, Hardwick, Sicily, Nash (promote him), burton, heatherly and orourke need to all play 12+ games. Rather lose by 100+ with them than 80+ with the current team.

Lost all confidence. Will be very difficult to regain.
There are some unbelieveable comments on this board.
As Adelaide Hawk said, opposition supporters will be reading this board with delight and rolling on the floor with laughter

Okay, can we take a deep breath and stop the excuses now?

We stink! And only by getting rid of the passengers will we improve.

Hodge still clearly the leader of this footy team.

Harsh reality check for a few today.

Bash and crash. Time to win the contested ball and if we don't, make them earn the possession. Forget about zones if we don't win the ball.

Put it in long. At least it inside 50 and we defend through our forwards (at least they have to move it 150m to score).

0-4 and have no backline is the end of the story.

The problem here is that replacing the underperforming younger players doesn't fix the problem.

Sheils, Rioli, Smith, Bruest, Poppy, Frawley, Langford, Gunston are all underperforming immensely and when they do get their hands on the ball their 'elite' skills suddenly seem to disappear. Disinterested performances. Gibson is cooked.

Hodgey is a warrior. Burgoyne tried. Mitchell tried. McEvoy tried. Guys like Burton, Brand, Hardwick and Sicily went good. Thats it.

Change is needed, but switching around one young player for another isn't going to work. The changes need to come from the mid tier players and there are some hard calls that need to be made.

Bang on. You cannot expect Hartung to get any form if he is dropped every second week.

Clarko needs to now compile a list of youngsters he sees as the future. He then needs to select these players first and for every match for the year. Then fill in the rest of the team with form / leaders. Done.

Youngsters to be held in team from now: Mitchell, JOM, JOR, Cousins, Stewart, Sicily, Burton, Brand, Hardwick, Pitto ... even Glass.
Mid-aged players to stay: Gunston, Breust, Rioli, Smith and Shiels (maybe - he needs to lift).

Mentality of the coaching team must go from: drop him he played crap to we need to keep youth in the team and let them build games. They will have off games, that is a given.

I thought Burgoyne and Langers and even Hartung busted their guts today, more than we can say for a lot of other players. The worries are with these lot:

Shiels - future captain? No chance
Gibson - gone
Roughead - did nothing today, and has had a pretty uninspiring start (granted he gets well deserved leeway)
Breust - MIA all year
Rioli - a few great tackles, but seems to have gone back to 2010 days (without the magical special appearance goals)
O'Brien - I really wanted him to show something, but he clearly doesn't have it

In reality, I think it's time to go full St Kilda 2013 and trade for picks. Full rebuild ahead.

I expected a loss but I didn't expect the capitulation. Sadly I don't think it's our young blokes that are the problem, lot of our old blokes have gone missing once the heats been turned on and it's their disposal that's been appalling

Langford, Sicily, burton, brand and Mitchell tried hard all day and that's great to see. Thought Hardwick went okay and hopefully keeps his spot next week.

Going to be a long season - reminiscent of 04/05 and that wasn't pretty but it was the beginning.

The game changed when the umpires decided there was 2 sets of rules. Before that it was close.
We dropped our head, but why bother attacking when the umpires are going to ping you?
The game changed when Sicily missed from 20m out. Let's not blame the umps for 22 guys dropping off simultaneously

Hard to watch. We look slow, unwilling to get to contests and entirely too comfortable with just folding. I know the core of players have just come off climbing and enormous mountain of the last 5 years, but it really isn't good enough.

It feels as though there is something that is interfering with team morale, I'm not sure if the off season departures has something to do with it or there is something else but it just seems that they are not a happy team at hawthorn.

Disappointing to fall away like that but when the game was out of reach we gave up and they smelt blood.

I don't think it's a case of us bottoming out more so than low on confidence and playing badly.

Our ball movement and decision making is at an all time low. Our defending is hopeless for the most part.

It was a good third quarter but we wasted chances to get ourselves back into the game. It was nice to see us play well for at least 15 minutes unlike last week.

We're in trouble. Confidence is shot and today only dents it more. It's going to be hard to turn it around.

We'll eventually start playing better, but we could be in for a long year.
