Just heard Scott talk on radio. He is starting forward.

So he should.
Structure looks great up forward, surely him up there has something to do with it.
Also you don't give up after 3 weeks (particularly when we win all 3).
He looked close yesterday, a few times could have had a shot for goal.
It'll come, and if it doesn't he'll go back and someone else will end up out of the team.

There's a reason Hawk is second in the AFL goal kicking and Menzel equal third.
Well kersten did get a lot of encouragement for being solely a decoy early last year even when hawkins was doing bugger all. Hawkins and Menzel are killing it now so you could argue that Taylor should atleast get the same plaudits if kersten deserved it when hawkins was ordinary.

*flips table*

Looks like it will take some losses for the change to be made. Unfortunately.

I'm just not sure why they'd at least try a different setup? Scott strikes me as someone who, having developed a strategy or framework, is very conservative or slow to adapt or make changes unless they are forced. Unfortunately I think it's a real weakness of his.

He was on gameday this morning and was asked about it.
Was very intent on pointing out that Taylor is creating space for Hawkins and Menzel whom have 22 goals combined.

He did admit it wasn't working as well as they thought it would but that was a positive byproduct of Harry up forward. I guess until he's not there we won't know how much off an effect he's having on that.

Serious?
Last 2 weeks Taylor has spent plenty of time in the backline with Blicavs/Dangerfield/Selwood/Stanley/Smith starting forward...

I was thinking the same but with Tuohy, Mackie, Thurlow, Guthrie and Ruggles I reckon we are covered for defenders. That's not even including Lonergan, Henderson and Taylor (if he moves back).
Mackie to Breust as per normal. Guthrie to Cyril.

Henderson, Lonergan and Stewart to Roughead, Gunston and Vickery as Harry won't move back.

I don't get you guys.
Last year our forward structure was ordinary, our entries were all bombs to Hawkins 2/3v1. When we played guys like Kersten or Stanley forward their defenders didn't respect them (rightly most of the time) so peeled off and went third up over Hawkins.
We bring Harry forward partly to draw his defender away from Hawkins and give him room to do what he does best.
So far, it's career best kind of stuff from the big fella, our entries are now deep to Hawkins 1 out with plenty of space, or to Menzel likewise, we have kicked goals from space over the top and seemingly have all the room in the world forward.
Conversely our defensive transition is 10 times better. We move the ball quickly from the backline through good kicking and/or linked up handball.
What's changed?
Taylor moved from a backline far too slow and far too tall into a forward line that was far too small.
The structure of the ENTIRE side is better with Taylor forward.
Sure things can change, and 1 that might change it is Taylor continuing to not impact the scoreboard, but some of the melting over it is bordering on stupid.

That's really only come later in the game as against North when we were looking at a loss at 3/4 time. Despite 2 and now 3 ineffective games as a forward, it appears he'll start there again against the Hawks.

All reasonable points and I had similar sentiments in an earlier post that the irony of Taylor playing forward has coincided with our forward line performing far more economically than last year. Is it coincidence or not? I don't know the answer but I don't think you can carry a key forward indefinitely when he's not contributing at all on the scoreboard.

Agree.
It might be coincidence but outside looking in the move is the only thing that's changed.
100% agree he needs to start performing and hitting the scoreboard.

Murdoch has no future.
No point playing a bloke when we can give the games to someone else worthy of success in the long term.

Same goes for Cowan and I reckon Smith is in dire trouble. He needs to assess what he really wants to be doing because as a 400k per year ruckman in the AFL, he's one of the worst going around.
He should have slaughtered bloody Watts. Out-weighed and out-stretched him.
No wonder the Suns were laughing when we came a knocking.

Thurlow - Bruest
Guthrie - Rioli
Henderson - Roughead
Lonergan - Vickery
Mackie - Gunstan

Perhaps swap Thurlow and Mackie if needed? Or inevitably move Taylor back ;)
