Toast How can this Melbourne side be stopped?

How can you be a successful team with Hunt, Brown, Brown, Tomlinson and Dunstan next in line ?.

They are coming back to the pack pretty quickly with a few injuries. Like all sides.

It certainly more form then personnel last night. Sure May is better than Tomlinson and Tmac better than Brown. But we aren’t putting on pressure and the fumbling and decision making is poor.

TPP will always dictate carrying a couple of battlers.

It’d be nice to be loaded with stars but it just doesn’t happen. Melbourne seem to be carrying quite a few at the moment, but they’re missing a few from their best 22.

That being said who are they missing that is A-grade outside of May? It must be frustrating having to play Tomlimson in place. Sam Reid gave him a football lesson last night.

carlton 1995 won their 16th game in a row of the season to win the premiership. by round 12 of 1996 they were a game clear on top of the ladder having only lost 2 games.
from there they finished the season 5th and got smacked in their finals.

We were teetering a bit first half of 96, only just getting over the line a lot of the time.

Melbournes percentage much better than Carlton at the same stage 1996.

Don’t think the scenarios are comparable, we were an older side still very good but just hanging on.

Of all premiers over the past decade, the only teams Melbourne aren't better placed than after 12 rounds is Hawthorn 2013 and....Melbourne 2021. And even then we are pretty similar in terms of points for and against compared to last year. We only had that one loss but if we beat the Pies we'll basically be in the exact same position in 2022 at the bye as we were last year at the bye.

Sydney were comfortably the better team last night and won off the back of two contentious free kicks. I think they would have found a way to win regardless but to not be the better team on the night and still be in a position to win with 4 minutes left probably gives the best indication of where we are at. Freo absolutely went another notch last week. But people are carrying on like this is the fall of Melbourne. Give me a break. Aside from Melbourne last year it's extremely rare for a team to go through a season without a 6+ goal loss. Richmond 2017-2020 rings a bell, because they had some pretty bad losses throughout those years.

Last year was Melbourne taking a league by storm. What is really going to determine how good they are is if they can rise up a level at a time when other teams are getting closer to their 2021 form. We're 10-2 and people are carrying on like these losses are unheard of from premiership teams. It's just not true.

We got some issues right now but we've been uninspiring all year and are still 10-2. Regardless of the competition that's still 10-2.

Yep need to ignore the noise, would of taken 10-2 at start of the year regardless of how it happened, as long as player availability looks good for 2nd half of season (which it does).

It’s actually not an interesting debate at all. No one not even in their wildest dreams will be looking back in 10 years thinking McCartin had a better career than Petracca. Even the second half of their careers.

The most dumb premise I can think of that you’d rethink taking McCartin over petracca.

Petracca could retire today and being a Melbourne legend would be secure.

All this carry-on, still top of the ladder after 12 rounds coming off a flag
Did you think this thread wouldn't have posters challenging the idea of Melbourne being unbeatable? Arguing about possible weaknesses? Questioning depth?

It's not the 'Who is the best team?' Or, 'Who is most likely to win the comp?' thread.

More referencing the communal joy and shitting on Melbourne when they lose. It's not analysis, it's just a bunch of chest-beating about how mElBoUrNe'S dYnAsTy iS oVeR!!!

Being hated sure beats being pitied, but the fragile, insecure Richmond fans in here bring plenty of amusement.

It comes with the territory. Hopefully you aren't one of those fragile, insecure Richmond fans yourself for a couple of years yet.

Embrace the hate.

I do love how this thread was started as a troll by a doggies supporter the year we smashed them in the grand final.

So you think Melbourne is mid-dynasty?

McDonald injured? How serious? Ben Brown out of form. Their key forward stocks don't look that good atm.

Interesting that they’re forward line was voted the best in the AFL by most experts have only scored over 100 points 3 times this season 2 of those against Westcoast and North Melbourne
I never saw any expert say we had the best forward line lol

Good old BigFooty.

But 17-2 in your last 19 games with your last 2 being losses is like...

Eagles are doing ok coz weve won a flag 4 years ago never mind about recent results
