Interesting that they’re forward line was voted the best in the AFL by most experts have only scored over 100 points 3 times this season 2 of those against Westcoast and North Melbourne
Where is this poll. I would like to audit these votes from most experts please.

Best thing about Melbourne losing 2 in a row is that possibly their supporters cease giving advice to everyone out there on how they should go about winning a premiership.
I have plenty of advice on winning flag still, but there not much point sharing it with Pie supporter, is there? You not coming close for a long time sorry!!!

Can't really have anything to do with May this one. They kicked 4 goals in 3 quarters. Ben Brown is seriously shit right now. 6 disposals 0 goals in 8 quarters.

Ben Brown is critical to the teams success in big games. His contested marking and ability to create space for the others is what makes the forward line a formidable one. He is badly out of form. Melbourne's mids and backline will always best most teams. In the big games though, they need Brown (or someone else) putting pressure on defences through contested marking.
A lot of lazy football happening. A lot of people forget we were one odd umpiring call from being 4th last year, and one goal away from losing the GF last year..
That said we should be a lock for top 4 and after that who knows

Lazy and arrogant football. Last night a number of times they took the selfish option rather than what was best for the team. I have no doubt they'll rectify this. Makes a huge difference though.
I called it a month ago, that if Melbourne were gonna lose games it’d be around June where they had a form slump last year. Heavy training load, most likely. Needless to say, they aren’t perfect and there are a few teams who should be able to test them in finals (just not the Bulldogs, they’re softcocks).

This talk about increased training loads is garbage. This doesn't occur until a couple of months out. It is waaay too early. They're losing for reasons other than the convenient "increase training loads " reason.

Fairly certain I’ve seen more in my lifetime than what you have.

Now that you have finally won 1, would you like some advice on how to cope when you don’t win another for some time?

Still an awesome team and favourite for the flag. Comments around them being unbeatable and a guarantee to win it were always premature.

Need Petracca at his best again again. While their top end midfielders are awesome (Trac, Oliver) their depth is actually pretty average. Too much has been left to Oliver lately. He was great last night despite being held at every contest.

It’s an interesting debate.

Petracca has already hit most major milestones - Norm, premiership player, AA. He has wrangled a massive contract out of the Demons and they’ve already been paid back big time.

While McCartin has finally established himself in a spot, and given this is first season playing as a key defender and really his first full season overall touch wood there’s a substantial amount of improvement to come. He’s still developing fitness and building his defensive game - that being said it’s already really solid for a guy that’s played very little down back. What also stands out is his kicking skills. Just a beautiful user coming out of defence, hits some lovely drop punts and has the ability to change up the kick if need be.

I’d imagine he’s more hungry for success due to his slow start, setbacks, early retirement and now the opportunity to play in a quality side with his brother.

Petracca obviously wins the plaudits to this point - roughly the halfway mark of their careers - but it’s going to be interesting who emerges the second half. Petracca coasts through far too many games and might not have the same passion to be the best, but McCartin is clearly doing everything he can to get the most out of himself and get some success for the Swans.

The Hun AFL website and Age had so Called experts rate the Lists on how strong they are in certain areas Melbourne were rated at number 1 in all areas
Link?
I want to see where the Age said Dees forward line rated best.

Didn't you know, Melbourne is the only team to win a flag in recent history. Don't be so silly!

Tough question. If you had to take Petracca or McCartin for the rest of their careers, who are you taking? Key position defenders that can dominate aerially like McCartin did tonight are extremely valuable in the modern game IMO. Petracca is a very good player, don’t get me wrong, but they’re a lot easier to find (see: Jai Newcomb) than brick walls like Paddy.
This is my favourite post in the thread to date.

Back to the topic at hand, as I said last week, our forwardline is a massive concern. We desperately need one of Brown or Weideman to find form, otherwise we won’t be winning the flag this year.

Other than that I feel like our mids are still performing well enough (+14 in the contest last night) and our defence will be fine when May is back and Petty gets a chance to recover from his niggles. Lever’s form is way down on last year however, which is another concern.

It’s actually not an interesting debate at all. No one not even in their wildest dreams will be looking back in 10 years thinking McCartin had a better career than Petracca. Even the second half of their careers.

Fairly certain you seen more "shitting the bed in grand final" than I have too.

Now that you have finally won 1, would you like some advice on how to cope when you don’t win another for some time?
Not from you thanks, you seem very bitter and angry about it.
