Pickett reminds me of Jeff Farmer. Except that he has a fraction of Farmer's talent. Farmer was infuriating as an opposition supporter but boy was he a magnificent player.
Now there's a thread...best small forward. Farmer v Betts v Krakouer v Bartlett v Mathews v ....
NopeGotta feel for their fans
Milne was definitely one of the best forward pocket specialists of all time. Players like Betts and Phil Matera very good as well.Discussion for another place perhaps but didn’t Mike Sheahan always say Milne was the best small forward he ever saw?
Gotta feel for their fans, won their drought breaking flag on the other side of the country while they were stuck at home, then when they finally get to the g for finals they get bundled out in straight sets.
Poor old dees.
Will be keen to see how they bounce back in 2023, particularly if they add Brodie Grundy to relieve Max Gawn of his ruck duties.
Play him at CHF, or deep when the ball movement is abit slower. Not sure about that as what can Gawn do if he isn't in the ruck?
Don't forget about the near-centurion Peter Daicos! He played a lot in the midfield, but three seasons of 75+ goals is pretty crazy.Pickett reminds me of Jeff Farmer. Except that he has a fraction of Farmer's talent. Farmer was infuriating as an opposition supporter but boy was he a magnificent player.

He is a great mark, but as you say - a really poor kick. More importantly (perhaps), he cannot apply pressure in the forward line.Play him at CHF, or deep when the ball movement is abit slower.
I understand he has the yips infront of goal, but he’s still a bloody great mark. In a game where you’re holding a 12 point lead late, chuck him as the extra down back.
62k isn't a bad crowd
Spot on. Probably needed to rest players in season and freshen them up. It was too late to blood players come finals. Too many sore bodies and just couldn’t get through games in the second half of the season. We’ll need to make a few changes and add a bit of speed to the team. Also not overly keen on Grundy. I was initially but not so much now.Seem to run out of puff at half time and too many players carrying injuries. They will reset, and be in the mix again next year.
They should be going all out for a KPF though, not Grundy.
InterestingFreo. They have an astute coach, who has them playing well and have quality players to add to the team that won in Geelong. They're also in a position to not have to rush Fyfe back and can let him build up to being cheery ripe for the business end of the season.
They've got van Rooyen and we'll give them Grundy for a 1997 Picture magazine with pages stuck together so Gawn can sit forward more. They'll be fineDemons fwd line needs work.
No gun key fwd and long high bombs to the fwd pocket.
It's been a problem for the last half a season.
Fritsch has been brilliant but if not for him then Melbourne might not have even made finals.
Yes it is. That’s a H&A crowd, not a do or die final when the majority of Dees supporters didn’t get to see last years run in the flesh.
Not only was it a poor crowd for the occasion, but the Lions supporters made all the noise.
Rivaling Essendon's dynasty circa 2000.Their dynasty was short but sweet
