Toast How can this Melbourne side be stopped?

Massive, but we've known for 12 months he was going so have already made plans for life without him.

Interestingly Melbourne is the only club he's been involved with that has achieved the ultimate success

That was gonna be my next point.. I feel he was at port Adelaide and they weren’t much chop?

Port, Liverpool, Socceroos and i think Sydney (AFL) too.

I have no doubt that he will improve Adelaide, but he helped us win a premiership so he'll always be a legend 🤣

He was there the year they made the prelim, 2014. I think with hindsight the lack of success might have been down to Port’s game plan not necessarily fitness, as they came close to running over the top of the Hawks in that last quarter. From memory they had a very poor i50 conversion rate.

add Arsenal to that list

Burgess will be a loss. Everyone who’s asked at the club can’t speak highly enough of him. Apparently Selwyn is pretty well regarded also. Ben Brown mentioned him in regards to his recovery.

-Injuries to the wrong players at the wrong time
-Being the hunted
-Other clubs evolution
-Form changes
-Loss of hunger
... Loss of hunger? Are you taking the piss? WTF does that even mean?

My boys are hungry baby, don't worry about that. They're really hungry. Starving in fact. Famished.
I've never seen a hungrier group of young men.

Luke Jackson? 19 years old, won himself the Rising Star, told 5xAA and current AA captain Max Gawn to get the **** out of the ruck so he could win us a flag. 9 days later he's posting pictures of himself with his personal trainer. He'd already doubled his weight in one off-season and got himself a six-pack too. One off-season; just one. And he's going again, not even two weeks after premiership glory, straight back into the gym. Meanwhile the Doggies are still posting selfies at the disco, and our boys are clocking up hundreds of km's on the bike! Jackson looks hungry to me mate, starving in fact. Thirsty too, real thirsty for a flag!

What about Jaidyn Hunt, injured at the arse end of the home and away, Joel Smith, also injured, back from the wilderness after years of being wherever he was and giving up a spot to Pig Hibberd at the death. Adam Tomlinson, selflessly moving to the backline to universal acclaim before a cruel ACL injury. Those boys know they just missed out on a flag. I've seen them on insta: haggard, faint, their skin pale, their eyes drawn. They're hungry mate, really hungry. Starving in fact. I've never seen a hungrier group of men. Look like they've never had a feed in their life!

I was there in 2018 when Mitch Hannan (remember him?) lit up the MCG and sealed the elimination final against the Cats. The roar shook the very foundations of that great stadium. The boys know as great as their victory was- and say what you like about how weak the opposition was, but the Dees were pretty pretty good- the boys know that there's another flag waiting for them at the G. They're hungry to be home!

As my man Maxy Gawn said: "We've just started"

Dees are hungry mate. Starving. Don't worry about that!!!!

So he'll be about 190kgs for R1 next year?
Wouldn't surprise me at all my man!

Not sure if he's aiming to "double up" like he did in his first pre-season, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see a good 150+kg of muscle attached to those bones of steel.

I doubt he has a 6 pack though. A bit of hyperbole by you.
Dan mate I respect your opinion but you're dead wrong on this.

This pic was during the last off-season. He's a ****in' beanpole here.

He's double that now, easy.

**** me he's so hot

Working out how to break through the May/Lever combo is important to beating them.

Making Lever man up and actually stick to a guy is how Collingwood got them early.
Perry’s season is very underrated for this reason. He ended up doing a lot of intercept work when other teams tried to body Lever.

They do seem poised for a dominant run. Best ruck duo ever leading a strong midfield. AA-studded backline. Forwardline is average but reminds me of the Cats in their 07 era. That midfield will make the likes of Mooney look great, the forwards will be fine.

our forward line is definitely our weakest link but even then, Fritsch kicked 59 goals this year as a 3rd tall, Pickitt kicked 40 as a second year small forward, Tmac was in great form early on and Ben Brown returned to his best in the finals. Petracca also kicked a ton of goals with Spargo and Neal- Bullen providing great pressure. I think our forward line is still one of the best in the league despite it being our worst link. Scary.

Dogs look the best chance of stopping them, but to that they'll need luck in the ruck.

We went from 9th to premiers in one off-season. Other contenders will emerge. League feels like its in a bit of a transition period with some young sides coming through and the older contenders dropping off over the past year or so.

Thats the Cam Mooney effect.

Your forwardline is not one of the best in the league. But thats how good the rest of the team is.
