Very Well.

Dwyer played just about all AFL Games.

Frost promoted on Senior List and Has Showed a Fair Bit. Had a set back with a PCL with most.

Martin been dominating at VFL Level but has Stuggled when gone up to AFL Level/

Oxley been good. Shown Great Skills by Foot and Like the Look of Him

Who would be promoted though?

From my uneducated guess, Dwyer would be a certainty and probably Martin too. Not sure how many spots open on your senior list for the rest to get a chance.

Hudson to retire?

For the Swans, they usually don't mess around so if a player has been promoted off the rookie list during the year they usually get an elevation. However, it might be a bit tricky this year with quite a number of candidates who would usually fit this criteria.

Rampe would be the definite, he's played so well he's not just earnt a spot on the senior list he's best 22 material right now. Jack has received games mainly because of injuries to Jetta and Rohan and I think he may find it hard to get a spot if those 2 speedsters are fit and firing in 2014. Still, it wouldn't surprise me for him to get a spot.

Richards has noticeably improved over the course of the season, although he was lucky to get a game as a late in for Mitch Morton who injured himself in the warmup. It may depend on our tall stocks, in particular whether out-of-contract Jesse White and Tommy Walsh (yes I know he's under contract for 2014) will be on our 2014 list.

Biggs has also been elevated without actually debuting (yet). Having spent a previous year on the rookie list I believe he has to be delisted or elevated and I don' think the Swans would put all that hard work into him just to cut him.

Lloyd has been our best and most consistent player in the reserves, but hasn't received an opportunity mainly because our on ball department has remained relatively injury free (touch wood). I think he could slot into our team but perhaps another season on the rookie list wouldn't do him any harm. Robinson was playing well earlier in the year but has been quieter in the 2nd half of the season. Not sure whether they will retain him. Naismith has been injured the whole season and only made his comeback the weekend previous. He was going to be a long term project anyway so I would be surprised if they cut him now.

For Richmond I would suggest that Petterd will get promoted. He has played about 75% of the games that he has been fit for this year primarily as a rebound defender and occasionally up forward. He is physical and has alot of good attributes however his ball drop and kicking is really awful. He should be promoted based on form, but I would say that he will probably be the unlucky guy in the current 22 to be replaced by Newman for finals.

Stephenson will stay if they can't find a backup as Derickx will be delisted- probably on the rookie list though. This will leave us with only Maric, Stephenson and Vickery as our rucks.

Verrier is a second year kid but will probably go. His skills just aren't at the level.

Lonergan dominates the VFL every week but still gets exposed at AFL level for pace and skill. His only chance of retaining his place is if Tuck retires and they feel as though they are lacking inside mid depth

Gideon Simon will go.

Ben Darrou will probably be retained or promoted to the senior list. He is an undersized Key Back who is rarely beaten at VFL level

Most of our rookies have been on the list for a while so it's time for the tough calls.

Only certainty with our rookie list is Curren will be elevated. Minchington will probably get the nod too, especially with Milne's retirement, Staley will probably be delisted. Ferguson and Shenton are hard to read. Shenton finally debuted on the weekend, however with our abundance of half back flanker types he may get the axe. Ferguson's been given time but hasn't filled out as the key back we hoped and so may be delisted too.

For Richmond
  • 13. Ricky PETTERD* - it seems he is in our best 22 so wouldn't be surprised if he gets promoted at the end of the year.
  • 22. Sam LONERGAN* - too good for VFL, not good enough at AFL. Hopefully delist and retain in our VFL team if no one else wants him to help out the young developing kids.
  • 37. Orren STEPHENSON* - could retire, could get delisted, could get one more year on rookie list. No idea. Personally think we will delist Derickx and rookie him as he seems to be playing good VFL footy now with games over 60 hit outs.
  • 40. Cadeyn WILLIAMS - shoulder injury after looking good. Will stay on rookie list and if gets his body right will be a player.
  • 48. Ben DARROU - very, very good defender. I think he'll get another year on the rookie (his 3rd) and probably be promoted before round 1.
  • 49. Steven VERRIER - dud delist.
  • 50. Gideon SIMON - international rookie who missed most of pre-season with Visa issues. Will get another year at least IMO, provided he wants it.

Hudson to retire?

Dwyer and Frost and Keep Martin and Oxley on the Rookie List start of next season but Both has Potential of being Elevated Again

Hudson is a Strong Chance of Retirement

West Coast
  • 22. Callum SINCLAIR - Was impressive in the WAFL before he got his chance in round 2 and then went on to play the next 5 games and was a decent backup to Cox. Went back to the WAFL and only played 2-3 more games for the year with a Knee injury ending his year. I think we will keep him as a rookie for next year instead of upgrading as Lycett will be the ruckman getting games ahead of Sinclair.

  • 42. Jeremy McGOVERN - Ruck/CHF - Has an impressive NAB cup outing and for the first 6 games of the WAFL was very impressive up forward and in the ruck but Ankle and Hip injuries ended his year early. In his 3rd year as a rookie so i think we will upgrade him as he has talent.

  • 44. Jamie BENNELL - HBF - He started the year recovering from an ACL and has played since around June and with each game has been getting better and better. He plays a negating role on small forwards and sometimes rusn through the midfield. Was upgrade a month or so ago but has yet to play a game in the seniors. He should be retained but kept on the rookie list for another year i think.

  • 46. Simon TUNBRIDGE* - Forward/Mid - 2nd year on the rookie list. Has been in and out of the WAFL through suspension and injury but has shown promise as a 3rd tall up forward and stints in the midfield as a big bodied mid. Last week he played as a negating forward and did very well. He had one game in the seniors against the Bombers but was used a sub and only got to play for 1/4. Should be retained as he has talent but i would leave him on the rookie list for one more year. I would like to see him played in the midfield more when he moves over to East Perth next year as he has a good size about him : 191cm and 96kgs.

Overall i am happy with our rookie list as i think all 4 have a place in the team sometime in the next year or so.

Schloithe - Very good form in the WAFL (stats), unfortunately he seems to be behind a few others for a spot in the midfield. 2014 would be his 3rd season on the rookie list. Reckon he'll survive the cut.
Menegola - Solid WAFL form last year but due to injury only played 2 games this year (stats). Another midfielder behind the others. Also looking at 2014 being his 3rd rookie season. Think he'll be moved on
Moller - Tall, skinny project player who has been performing well in the WAFL for his age and weight (stats). Not expected to play next year so should stay on the rookie list.
Howson - Same as Moller. Played most of the year in the WAFL reserves and last 2 game in the WAFL (stats). Won't get elevated and performance suggests he'll be retained but a few whispers about his attitude could see him dropped.
Taberner - Strong performances in the WAFL earned him a 3 games in the AFL whilst both Pav and Bradley were out (stats). Will be retained and a possiblity to be upgrade depending on Bradley's injury and what happens during trade week.

Carlton

  • 16. Andrew COLLINS...............Gone
  • 20. Rhys O'KEEFFE...................Touch and go. A good player that was originally on the senior list but troubled with injury.
  • 28. Tom BELL*.........................Definite elevation.
  • 35. Ed CURNOW*.....................Definite elevation.
  • 37. Jaryd CACHIA*...................Keeper but likely to remain a rookie.
  • 39. Frazer DALE.......................50/50

Confident that's pretty close to the mark for the CFC

I wonder if WCE and Fremantle would do a straight swap for him and Mcgovern? Fremantle need Key Position players and we need mids.

Pfeiffer, Butcher and Hoskin are all very unlikely to be on our list next year. SANFL form has been underwhelming, and Butcher and Hoskin have even spent time at SANFL reserves level.

Mitchell is a fringe player at this point, and his elevation or non-elevation will probably depend on how thorough our list cleanout is at the end of the year. If we only dump 3 or 4 players he'll probably stay on the rookie list, but if we get rid of 6 or 7 players then he might find himself on the senior list next year so we don't have to go too deep into the draft.
I would think Mitchell will be on the senior list next year - plays his role pretty well.
Butcher and Pfeiffer wont make it - Hoskin will probably stay on - Port are crying out for a small defender

Dwyer will get promoted 100% as he signed an extension till the end of 2015.

Frost and Martin 50/50 chance of being promoted, club may choose to keep them on as rookies 1 more season depending on how they rate the draft.

Marto has the (VFL) form and really should of played more games at AFL this year, this issue I think is he lacks a yard of pace and our senior side is a bit 1 paced through the midfield and he is up against it in terms of nocking out one of our starting mids. His best bet is the role J.Blair plays and personally I'd prefer martin as he is cleaner with the ball.

Frost showed he is AFL capable before he got injured so it will depend whether the Club see Reid as staying forward in 2014 with Brown, Keeffe and Frost as the right trio down back.

Oxley will stay a rookie 1 more year imo.

Hudson will retire (again).

Mooney already spent 2 years as a cat b rookie and most likely will be upgraded to the main list.

Yagmoor has improved in the VFL this year but popular opinion is he will be let go.

Hartley can't get on the park fair chance he will be delisted, unless the club have seen enough in him to punt like .

Richmond from reports hasn't shown anything at VFL level to suggest he will be an AFL player but since he is a cat B rookie in his first season then will most likely get another year.

Greenwood - Gone
Redpath - Should be gone
Goodes - Elevated
Austin - Kept for a 3rd year
Jong - Kept for a 3rd year

How I think it will play out for us.

I wonder if WCE and Fremantle would do a straight swap for him and Mcgovern? Fremantle need Key Position players and we need mids.

Haven't seen a lot of either, more just read about them from various sources. From what I've read we would need to sweeten the deal with a 2nd or 3rd rounder. McGovern sounds like he'd be a good fit for us, but I'm not sure on how keen WC would be on Schloithe, he could be a handy AFL player, but it's doubtful he'd be the A grader your midfield would be chasing.

Goodes is a certain upgrade, in best 22
Jong should be kept for third year as injuries restricted this year
Austin maybe kept for KPD depth, but cut wouldn't surprise.
Greenwood and Redpath are rubbish and certain delistings

Steinberg: Likely to be retained according to Yoda_ our resident VFL watcher.
Dalgleish: Really like the look of this kid, he's so goddamned quick. If uninjured will go close in the GF sprint this year. Inb4peptideswinitforhim
Hunter: Tough, but injured a lot. Possible 3rd year
Dell'Olio: Gone

Thanks for that eth-dog

Three of the four are clear cut for mine.

Dalgleish will be upgraded, Hunter and Dell'Ollio will be delisted whilst the only question mark is what we do with Steinberg. Would be behind all of Hooker, Carlisle, Hurley, Pears, Fletcher, Hardingham to play as a key defender/3rd tall defender but isn't bad enough to delist. His improvement in the past 24 months has been outstanding. A skinny, unique forward in his first year to a handy reliable defender.

Agree, they have to be delisted.

Mitchell is a fringe player at this point, and his elevation or non-elevation will probably depend on how thorough our list cleanout is at the end of the year.

I would call him an automatic upgrade, he has had some very good times with us.

Zac Williams is a sure thing to be elevated by GWS. 18 year old kid from Narrandera in country NSW who's been a real surprise packet coming in and playing 11 games, plus he earned himself a rising star nom after the win over Melbourne. Very composed as a small defender, uses the ball well. First Giants Academy player to play senior footy.

Joey Redfern has just been in the NEAFL this year, he'll stay on the rookie list though considering we have an extended rookie list (can't remember how many)

More than likely we'll see a couple of NSW/ACT rookies added at the end of the year, not that I've been keeping tabs on who's likely to get a shot.

Richardson is gone. Requested to train solely with NB Roosters for the second half of 2013 and was granted that permission, so he's done.

McGenniss just had his contract extended for another year. Will be retained.

Wallace will stay on the list.

Speight is gone.

Warren is the interesting one, might get another year.
