Also the fact the Husband has not tested positive after being the same car for 20 hours suggest she wasn't particularly infectious.

Unless the husband infected her, and he is testing negative because he has now recovered.

Covid case detected on QLD coast

Urgent contact tracing is underway after revelations of a covid scare where a Melbourne couple left lockdown and drove through New South Wales to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast before one tested positive.

this isnt a leak or a failure of system

two more flogs:

1) broke the melbourne 5km limit

2) broke the rules on how entry into NSW is to be done

3) broke the rules on entry into QLD

4) did this while symptomatic for much of the trip

Because however you want to dress this up, it all comes down to the current outbreak and last winter’s wave. Nothing else. The endless talk of Melbourne’s “fourth lockdown” is misleading because one of these lockdowns was national (indeed, nearly global), and another was a short circuit-breaker of the kind we’ve seen in Adelaide, Perth, and twice in Brisbane. It is not the number of lockdowns that sets Melbourne apart. It is the nature of the outbreaks. That’s what lies behind the suggestion that Melbourne cannot control outbreaks in the way other cities do.

Except that if you want to suggest this, you’d have to include in your sample the Black Rock outbreak over the new year – which many seem to have forgotten – and which Victoria contained without a lockdown in precisely the manner NSW often does. You’d also have to include the breach of Australian Open hotel quarantine in February, which Victoria handled simply by listing exposure sites. Once you do that, the idea that Melbourne is so negatively special as a matter of course becomes immediately less compelling. It retreats once more to being entirely about these two exceptional outbreaks.

It makes no sense to ask ‘why Melbourne?’

The type of COVID-19 outbreaks, not the number, is what sets the city apart from the other capitals.

They’ve said today they are keeping heavy restrictions in place because they can’t link all of the cases. Those unlinked cases are the ones from the Victorian hotel quarantine so it’s absolutely extending the lockdown.

Hotel quarantine clearly does not work and the Victorian State Government should just refuse to do it rather than continuing to put all Victorians at risk in order to allow a small minority to come and go from the country.

Do you have any evidence to back that first statement up?

Business’s have continually been frustrated by the fact that the government won’t give them any warning about when they will ease restrictions, I don’t recall any saying they would like opening up delayed to give them more preparation time.

Most ridiculous though was when they had to give Victorians a few days warning that mask rules would be removed, because people apparently needed plenty of warning to take their masks off...
