Good result, but still crossing fingers that the virus doesn't get a spark from some of the exposure sites like the nightclubs.

today/tomorrow we should start getting the test results from Marvel/MCG/Prahran clubs. fingers crossed

Theres a lot of venues involved now - currently 121 on the vic site, including 3 "massive" areas - highpoint shopping center, MCG, Marvel stadium.
In my recollection that is a sh*t load more contacts than the NSW contact tracers ever had to deal with (even the northern beaches they were able to get away with focal lockdowns initially) and I don't think any big sporting environments were involved

really apart from the QR code’s and Ticketek, the MCG abandoned distancing pretty quickly las Saturday the only open areas of level 4 were punt road end and the ques for food were huge

people could easily have been spread out more but that would have cost money

No one can deny the feds were talking up and big noting the, selves about getting a vaccine BEFORE they actually got one. Now the same enthusiasm is being put into talking vaccines down.

it’s not ‘Dan lovers’ standards Morrison’s failed by. It’s his OWN standards

I’m not quite sure if this is correct but I was under the impression there was a more rapid turn around with this variant, ie shorter incubation period.

If true today’s is a very good result, 4 out of almost 50,000 tested. Would’ve expected considerably more than that if this thing was really off the leash.

Hang in there Vics, hopefully in a few days everyone’s thinking about an early exit.

Hopefully it seems they’ll have jumped the gun a little early yet again.
You are gold.

If cases explode - shit incompetent government can’t run a chook raffle

If cases don’t and tracing actually does its job - shit incompetent government can’t run a chook raffle

Yeah we should applaud the government for overreacting, it’ll only cost the state billions and people their livelihoods...

Fact is if they had faith in their contact tracers like the great state of NSW then it wouldn’t be an issue

It's a great result, but I'll save my applause until Monday. It does turn around my 3-week lockdown prediction though. There's still some incubation period and those nightclubs are a terrible environment. Let's hope the young fella wasn't too contagious. (by the way, am I just assuming he's male, or is that confirmed? Seems I'm just picturing myself down the strip from 15 years ago).

Best thing I ever did was mute Ed. The only person I've ever muted and I can't say I feel like I've missed anything. I'm all for hearing other sides, but Eddie's not operating in good faith. It's trolling for the sake of it and I encourage you all to stick him on mute.

If they left GA as an option people naturally spread out so they have a seat or 2 either side for extra room. Instead with reserved seating they force everyone to fill out the entire row and cram everyone together

More understandable though compared to valentines; I was hoping they would hold at the 5 visitor level but with exposure sites increasing I see why they went lockdown but hope that if cases stay in known contacts they could end it early

Such hate, it’s so funny to see. Are you still crying over your heroes fall 😂😂
That's an interesting accusation to make of others, given your attitude towards Dan Andrews.

15,000 primary and secondary contacts remain in isolation as they await test results, so its a tad early to be doing a victory lap yet squib

should know more later today and tomorrow (as the results for these come in)

‘it’s the contact tracing which is providing the information on the so called ‘missing link’ which highlights the potential risk which is being covered by a snap lockdown. Surely people are just deferring spending so the lost money? Did it dry up and blow away?

At least we have moved on from ‘the adf was offered why wasn’t it taken up?’ Bulldust. Perhaps everyone now realises that was morrison mischief.

all along it was the unsuitability of hotels. Yet political point scoring took precedence over action which was pretty clear back then.

don’t the governments have a duty of care to not have uninfected people be exposed in hotel quarantine? If low risk groups quarantined at home, no transmission

So you’re saying they’ve processed 47,000 test results but not the ones that actually matter?

Not really, if they’d taken up the ADF offer the original issues in hotel quarantine wouldn’t have existed and the ADF wouldn’t have been out delivering pizzas and driving Uber’s after getting infected spreading it far quicker.

One or two sources of an outbreak can be managed if they’re competent, letting multiple infections spread for weeks before acting is harder to pull up.

Even Valentines they panicked due to the airport link, yet that highly infectious strain that was moving at warp speed didn’t even spread to the cafe workers colleagues!!!

This time they’ve no doubt yet again panicked due to the nightclubs

Possibly. I know of a case that became positive just from shopping in same supermarket for 30 minutes; but equally we aren’t seeing hundreds out of that supermarket so maybe was unlucky and encountered the active case several times while shopping (eg happened to be shopping just behind or crisscross several times)

What information have they given on the missing link?

We essentially don't know how this cluster started until they find that (or admit it was Woolies Epping North).
