I think it's the idea of changing goalposts. First it was "get your vaccine" and now it's "... plus this booster".

It does make you wonder how often we're going to have to get these boosters. I for one can say I don't get the flu jab every year lol

Its not unexpected though. We know that vaccine efficacy wears off with time, and that boosters have been mandated elsewhere.

Think the bigger issue is that they would be allowed to play unvaccinated. Everyone else working there would be required to be vaccinated by the government.
If they are allowed to play unvaccinated then there would be questions why unvaccinated Victorians would be excluded from nearly everywhere

Victoria has always counted Covid deaths as with Covid not just caused by Covid.

If an addict ODs but had Covid, it was counted as a Covid death.

If there was no lockdown we would be nowhere near 80%. Just look at the Qld, WA and SA vax rates. There would be the same complacency in Victoria and NSW if there was no outbreak

Isn't the vaccination rate within the F1 'community' something like 98%? They were trailblazers, and understandably so given the circus moves from one country to the next every fortnight.

I heard that the vax rate amongst tennis players on the international circuit has increased all of a sudden. Novax may remain an outlier, and if he does, who cares?

Isn't that going to be the standard process going forward for awhile? Unvaccinated people coming in go straight to 14 days hotel quarantine while vaccinated people can have home quarantine.

I don't see the issue as much about coming to the country but rather what unvaccinated people can do when they get here. Those are more state government issues.

That's right, they're letting them in so that Victoria is left with the choice between "Welcome, but you can't play", or "OK, the normal rules don't apply to you and we'll cop the (justifiable) public flak".

But those will be the rules for everyone, not just tennis players. That is why i don't think the Feds are trying to wedge them on this.
