Pandemic legislation that allows for "classing" based on vaccination status or medical condition, fine. Anything other type of "class" is irrelevant to the purpose of the legislation, and unnecessary.

Trust any politician or bureaucrat with that? No thanks. Disaster Dan? Brown-fingers Dan? Sneaky, dissembling, inept, incompetent Denial Andrews? No way!

Nah mate its only right leaning poli's that are the problem....all those left leaning are beyond criticism and would never do anything bad to the public. They would never ever want power or control either.

Fair enough.

Honestly, some people think he's a troll, but PRGuy is one of the best I have seen at cutting through the MSM political bias and scaremongering crap.

There's good reason why one side of politics in particular hate him. He's like Yoda, brings balance to the force.

My god that is so utterly delusional and stupid i don't even know where to begin.

Was the class idea to try to scale fines on income?
Class is being used and synonym for group. All it is saying is that the public health orders can be made in respect of a specific person (e.g. a detention order for an infectious person that is refusing to self-isolate) or in respect of a group of people with a shared characteristic or attribute (e.g. healthcare works (being the class or group) must wear face masks). It is entirely unremarkable.

It also worth noting that the provision beings "(3) Without limiting subsection (1), a pandemic order ..."

Subsection (3) explains the scope of power being granted under subsection (1) but it doesn't really grant any power in itself. Having a discussion about subsection (3) without knowing the scope of power granted under subsection (1) is pointless.

Partly because they keep getting their info from the same dodgy sources that are constantly getting debunked. Herald Sun, for example.

Can't really help them with that part, might as well have a laugh.

Here's the important bit of context they are missing.

View attachment 1267767

This oversight committee has no powers, or any power to influence or question what the Govt does.
It has no teeth and is pointless

Here's some additional context from an article in today's Age:

" The new independent committee, made up public health and human rights experts, will not have veto power but will be able to review any government decisions."

there are reasonable questions about the duration and extent of pandemic powers, particularly as vaccination numbers rise to high levels
the pandemic powers don't appear to be subject to parlimentary oversight and reporting currently
yes independent body is good, will their transcripts be released to public to examine?

The independent body has no power or influence over the Govt in these proposed laws.

It's purely lip service to appease the cross benchers.

Vaccination status is just an example. He could "classify" people based on any parameter he wants, and it'll be legal due to the way this bill has been written.

The drafting of this bill enables the Premier to classify people anyway he sees fit. This can be done purely at his discretion, as there is no body/court/process defined within the proposed legislation which has the power to stop him

The 3/5 majority one? That's never going to fly as it would be totally unworkable.
The one that is also totally pointless. Any Act of Parliament that requires a super majority to approve the exercise of executive power can be repealed by new legislation that only requires a simple majority. The current Parliament does not have the power to fetter the decision making power of future parliaments.

Hope he sticks to his word and there’s no more statewide lockdowns. Hope lockdown means “community/suburb lockdowns”. This is my only concern.

Schools still closing down and still waiting on air purifiers.

The current advice is that the purifiers will be delivered to schools "in the coming months". I was skeptical about their ability to deliver such large quantities of these units at short notice when the plan was announced. I was absolutely right!

Correct. I wouldn't give this power to a government that I trusted and respected, certainly don't want it Denial to have it. The safeguards needs to be built in upfront.

When you type things like "Brown-fingers Dan", it makes it very hard to take you seriously and not treat you like someone who might be a bit stupid. Why do you constantly wrap your posts in hysteria? You must realise that it makes you look very silly, so I don't really get why you do it.

Did I hear that Victoria has 200 plus schools closed ?

I don't use Twitter, can someone explain the #springst hashtag I keep seeing on these posts?
