We keep hearing “everyone is going to get it at some point” and that “we want it to circulate if it’s milder”.
Are we just delaying the inevitable?

It might mean there’s a more ‘destructive’ peak but it should hopefully taper off pretty quickly after the initial surge.

its interesting the asymptomatic positivity rate they have there (4.6%) - at my hospital we would swab all our admissions and it was (up until the last 2 weeks and thats more because I've been on leave) really rare for an unexpected covid +ve - like one in a couple of weeks type rare (so 1 in roughly 3000 pts)

Some other tweet that guy retweeted mentions Omicron severity is likely to be in between Alpha and Delta. So good news for the vaccinated, not so much for the unvaccinated.
If it’s true maybe it’s not the strain we want running through the population?
Good to have further confirmation. Two shots holding up well and less severe outcomes. Boosters to be rolled out in a calm and controlled manner. Very promising.

All good mate, been following his posts a bit lately. Definitely rates himself.
Seems to get good intel with stats, just not sure why he needs to give smart as* comments in a stressful time.

Any truth in the rumours of another lockdown in the first week of Jan if case numbers continue to be over 800 a day?
Whispers are Vic Govt looking at restricting movement due to the problems with not being able to service testing centre demand.
Talk is the optics of having testing centres close early in the day and the high case numbers have the Govt a little spooked
