Society/Culture Hypocrisy of The Left - part 4

A few hours ago you couldn't fathom my opinion some on the left could be self interested and others could be altruistic and now this. LOL
'Fathom'?

I'm intrigued now.

To this point, I've been pretty polite when telling you your worldview is inconsistent. I don't know why you've decided mockery is an acceptable way to converse on here - especially after flooding this thread with a series of posts that could've seen you infracted for either spamming or potential racism - but you've certainly left yourself open.

Just because one asks questions doesn't mean one doesn't understand. I want to see how you reconcile those differences, but it's no skin off my nose if you choose to ignore my questions.

Just a reminder: this isn't the Bay.

The things you have tried to pick me up on have not been inconsistent though.

I always thought 'redneck' was the U.S version of our bogan. A bogan isn't necessarily white. All the ethnicities in the show Housos were bogans, not just Shazza and Dazza. Frankie was a Maltese bogan. Hell, even Habib was a Lebanese bogan.

Ohmygod!
Red neck from being white and getting sunburnt.

All white Australians?
No. Whats that matter?

I'm just trying to figure out how it is racist. Where is the historical power imbalance between "the left" - whoever they are - and this subset of white Australians?

It is a derogatory word based on race.

There is no historical power imbalance between NZ Maoris for example and African Americans but I hazard a guess it wouldn't be smart for a NZ Maori to go on live TV and use the N word.

That's your guess.

Can you provide a coherent definition of race that allows the term 'redneck' to be racially bigotted?

Oxford dictionary definition of racist.

"characterized by or showing prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized."

Note only typically it is one that is a minority. Just typically, not always.

Calling somebody a name such as redneck is antagonising.

The redneck term in this case was used at members of a particular racial group - white Caucasian Australians.

Inb4 'aUsTraLiAs nOt a rAcE' well neither is Pakistan but Pauline Hanson has found out that constituted racism.

No need for the bracketed part - I was using them as examples of what I think are racists things to say. I believe all 4 are racists things to say.

Also nice contribution to this thread re hypocrisy of the left.

"Its a representative of the collective (eg all individuals) ...not an aspersion on all individuals." 😆 the mental gymnastics to not label that comment racist is insane.

... and here at it's core is the very essence of nationalism.

Your identity is directly tied to your nationality. Therefore any slight on the behaviour of your nation is a slight on you.

Putting aside any other debates around definitions of racism that relate to minorities vs majorities, the relationship between race and nationality, and all the other nuances... you can't even get past this first point because you're sold on nationalism.

A criticism of Australia as a racist country (which... by the way... is not even a statement I would tend to agree with) is not racist against "Australians" because it is a statement about living in this country.

Saying "Australians are racist" gets a bit nuanced in the detail but would, for the purpose of your point, be the more relevant comment.

Do you disagree?
Yes. Depends on the circumstances, intent.

Reverting to the personal insults isn't a good look on you when you don't even understand the words you're using.

So you actually do agree there can be circumstances and intent it wouldn't be smart. Why even try to argue the point.
