That's what it means to be a full member. A board which contributes to world cricket resources more than it uses.
The current criteria defines a successful team in performance metrics (and particularly a pathway program), not in monetary gain from what I can tell. It's oddly hard to find the ICC's actual criteria listed out from googling - it's all third party sources, with Mumbai Cricket being hilariously the top result above the actual ICC website.

Still think it's ridiculous that associate nations can't just say "hey, we'll pay for the ICC resources for this test" or even say "we just want to play a test without it being considered an ICC official test" but here we are.

Not odd at all. Of course the ICC doesn't want to publicise their failure to uphold their own rules. Regardless of what they say, their actions clearly indicate money is the driver for full membership, nothing else.

They can't say that because they don't have the money. That's what it means to be an associate member.

So if Oman decided to starts sportswashing like the Saudies, you're saying they'd instantly become a member?

What's the consensus on Prime? I didn't actually know this had started, and then realised the timing of games and CBF getting Prime so not watching - but that's just me.

Coverage is poor on delays, rain breaks they just go to a "Rain has stopped Play" screen playing porno music but overall quality is good and its only $8.95 a month so cost $17.90 max and then just get rid of it after the World Cup.

YES Network (the biggest regional sports network in America) have just announced they’re going to be broadcasting MI New York’s Major League Cricket games from this season. This is the same network that broadcasts the New York Yankees. Cricket is making strides into the mainstream over there.

Pretty sure they broadcast the Brooklyn Nets as well, great result

I’ve been a bit annoyed that they go off for an ad break and when they come back a wicket has fallen and I’ve missed it… this happened at least twice!!!

I think it's been fine generally, but their ad breaks are so bad. They don't even follow the natural gaps in the broadcast for ads, they're just jammed in randomly between (or occasionally over the top of) some overs

Did the MLC by any chance go to the ICC and ask if they could make use the New York venue for their season prior to dismantling the stadium? Would have been a good way to cement the MLC more in NY, rather than just Dallas.
Someone on the cricket subreddit mentioned it wasn't economical with what the county was asking. They could conceivably move it elsewhere given the design I guess.

I'm not sure the political relationship between MLC and the ICC anyway. MLC and the current US cricket admin are basically rival factions I believe.

Note: MLC also play matches in Morrisville (which should have been used this world cup).

Yeah, and building on that, I've read there is a good relationship with the local government in Morrisville, so focussing their activities in that area is fine for now.

The drop-in pitch on Long Island is being replaced by an artificial wicket, so at least there will be some cricket infrastructure remaining.

Wherever baseball is, cricket needs to be instead of being behind a cricket specific streaming service like the world cup is over there. They are extremely overlapping sports and it absolutely is their best avenue to make inroads if they truely want to be successful over there - which the world cup clearly isn't trying to do.

While I absolutely see the overlap, I love cricket and loathe baseball.

Generally its where you grow up, what country your from.. like Australian's like Rugby League, Cricket and AFL... where as America don't watch any of them but like Basketball, NFL, Ice Hockey and Baseball.. however much we try our sports won't up seed those sports in America lol, its a loss cause and not worth the effort.

Doesn't hurt to sell your tv rights to a low bidder in the interests of growing the game - its like whether you'd take $10 now or $2 with the chance to get additional dollars over the years.

AFL on ESPN had some clear impacts back in the day - not a huge amount but there's always seppos piping up about how they got into the sport from it beign on ESPN.

It's not an active growth strategy but a great passive one.

Agreed, but I can enjoy ice hockey and basketball, even if not as much as Aussie sports... baseball and NFL, on the other hand.

I enjoy NFL, its a good sport... but I'm Australian at the end of the day from NSW so Rugby League and Cricket will always be #1 but if your from Victoria or WA you'll probably like AFL and Cricket.

frickin' seeding, how does it work...?
At least now I understand their reasoning (other than manufacturing certain match-ups, I'm sure). Given the tournament is being held across the US and West Indies, the idea of giving certainty to travelling fans so they can see their team is one up-shot. Other than, it looks a mess. Afghanistan getting a top seeing because NZ missed out seems absurd.

Don't think of it as "top seeding" - it's just setting fixtures for the next round.

yeah, end of the day you gotta beat the best at some stage if you want to win it.

some dead rubbers coming up it seems - it'd be nice if they carried their points forward to the next stage (like the old super 6, super 8 in odi world cups) - it'd stop the talk of tanking etc.

the 2 groups are looking like:

INDIA, AUSTRALIA, AFGHANISTAN & 1 of Bangladesh/Netherlands/Nepal
&
SOUTH AFRICA, WEST INDIES & Pakistan or USA & England or Scotland
