If Saints players are talking to Grant Thomas on a regular basis then they are fools

Is it really devisive to the St Kilda Football Club if Riewoldt and a few others are chatting to GT? Could it really impact on there on-field performance:confused:

I can't see how it would make much difference either, this is just getting personal now and the players will be the ones to suffer.

You guys are all nuts!

This is just a big smoke screen

Butters needs to save his butt

StKilda are going crap (I blame injuries)

To avoid any talk about form, game plan, Moving the club to a new location etc.

Funny how this comes out the day after Morrabin council sends a letter to the club. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

If StKilda go to Casey (They WILL) who gets the kick backs when the deal is done Hmmmmmmm.

Thomas talking to players fairdinkum who gives a you no what.

when the saints convinced one of the most astute and successful coaches of at the time to come to their club, who forced him out...who insisted on sitting in the coaches box during games...who had to give his 20cents worth all the time...

GT

St Kilda....fast heading to be the new Richmond

Agreed

Riewoldt is an independent person like all of us, If Nick is using Grant as a mentor and/or friend thats Nicks decision, I don’t see how he is betraying Ross Lyon unless he is deliberately not following instructions, and there is no implication of this.
To say that the players shouldn't be talking to GT is ridiculous...thats like saying when you get a new boss, you then shouldn't be talking to the old one....as the above quote says, Nick/and or others are independant people..give them some credit...I have actually heard GT on SEN saying he gives full support to Ross Lyon and that he is a decent bloke...GT has integrity, and loves the club to much to undermine it....as i've said before, Rod Butterss needs to feel some heat, he has turned the club upside down, his outburst yesterday showed no class whatsoever, very petulant....the members and players should be protesting loud and clear!

"Its a bit like talking to your ex about your current relationship issues...I dont think your wife wiould be too impressed......"

I think it's more of a divorce scenario, with the players as the kids caught
in the middle. Of course they are goint to keep in contact with Thomas.
For most of them he is the only coach they have experienced, and in
fact, he has been much more than a coach.

What a bloody awful analogy.

I caught up with my old boss for years after he left, great bloke and we got along well. Don't see why you should cut people off because they're no longer employed by the same organisation.

Which analogy? The ex or the divorce?

It is all a matter of perception by Butters and Archie.

They both do not get along with GT and have had a massive falling out. They see him talking to players and get their back up because they perceive that GT will use them to get back at them. In Butters case he would be particularily paranoid after Rendell said he lost the players in Sth Africa. Archie comes across as a confrontational hot head so he would be no help.

Poor old Ross Lyon would also be worried (he is the victim in all of the, Longmire must be wrapped they over-looked him).

As the so called supreme man manager he is meant to be, Thomas should be aware of this and if he loves the club as much as he says, he should walk away and go cold turkey, explain to the players it has to be this way for the club to go forward. He is the mature, experienced adult in all of this. At Reiwoldt and cos age they are still learning about life and you would expect Thomas to know better.

They should all (GT, RL, RB, the players) have a big barbie at Grant's place. A few beers and backslaps later, everything will be rosy.

GT would have been so peed off, when he was the senior coach, that some of his players were getting advice from the previous coach.

GT, stay away, leave them alone, let Ross Lyon get on with his job.

Ross Lyon is the senoir coach at St Kilda, you had your go and mate ITS OVER!

Saints supporters, you should all get behind Ross Lyon, he was appointed after a thorough and widespread interview process before an independent panel.

If GT went through the same process now he wouldn't even get the job of boot studder. People like McKenna and Longmire missed out, remember?

if you believe Rod Butters about not wanting to name the players involved as they are members of th leadership group and it may embarass them, then it doesn't take much to conclude that one of them is Reiwoldt. He was most upset when father figure Grantwell got dumped and has admitted taking counsel from him this year.

If he is serious about his club, riewoldt needs to come out and make a statment saying he is comitted to St kilda nd coach Ross Lyon and distancing himself from Grantwell.
Reiwolt will probably leave Saints end of year as maybe Rod Butters should.
Thomas is in the media now whats he supposed to say. NOTHING??
He's allowed an opinion its his job now.He could be right about Pavlich
too, he gets a glare on when the pass isn't centre metre perfect then misses shots. So Thomas made a comment, so what.So he speaks to some of his
former players, whats in it, he might be saying hello. He got them into a couple of prelim's didn't he . He also had lots of injuries didn't he? The teams new coach has his team 4th bottom doesn't he?Butters and his boys diced
the likes of Stan Alves, Malcolm Blight, Tim Watson,Jessa and others, Ross Lyon is what, a touch better than Watson? Butters says leave it alone Grant you've has your go, well like a few StKilda coaches "their go" is pretty short and shitty and if you have reasonable success like making GF's and prelims as in the past WELL ya get sacked. If poor old Ross stays low on the ladder he could be there forever.

Lyon may be there for some time - as long as he does not borrow money from Butters.

And quite possibly GT.

Wash your mouth out :p
On the subject of big Nik.
Not so sure he'd be keen to leave the saints at all. After all, his profile is now quite high & readily identifies him with StKilda. I personally think he'd be doing himself no favors by changing something that drastically
