Ins and outs versus Bombers

I dont believe i have ever seen Ray put his body on the line for the sake of our team, and if there is ever a time we need someone to take a big blow for the team its now, we need players willing to go back with the flight and players willing to sacrifice for the better of the team, as much as i hate saying it about players, i cant see ray ever doing that for us, to be honest at the moment i cant see many of them doing it, but Ray and Eagelton are my big worries. He may well of done a good job against johnstone, but we didnt win, i think the team will be better with at least one outside player out and one hard nut like westy in.

So Ray does his job on Johnstone and it's his fault we didn't win.
Come on it sounds like no matter what he does it will not be good enough for you. So you just ignore all his good stuff and focus on his bad.
I cannot believe we have so many supporters who get a fix on players
and will ignore all there good stuff.
It is the same with Eagleton.
He was in our best on Saturday and people still want him dropped.

Thats big of you "jeemak"

Considering poor Tim got caught short with a guy with a good and slightly lucky boot "Ryan Hooper" who I think got 2 goals with his first 3 kicks in the 1st quarter.

Yes he got a marking opportunity while everyone was sorting themselves out early. But hey Tim has only just come back !!

Then he got his 3rd goal with one of his next and only 5 possesions during Q3 or Q4..... no ones perfect and I'm sure Tim will own up to that one.

But since your jumping on players who allowed their opponents to dominate "jeemak" how about being fair in this exercise, and call for the head of Sugar britches Bobbie Murphy; who on numerous occasions during the 2nd half let the usualy dour defender Jason Patfull run off him and make a fool of us by creating numerous attacking opportunities for the Brisbane Lions.

Where was Rob ?????

Who knows, maybe penning something clever for the paper that pays him fairly well "The Age"

Or alternatively the paper he writes for in his dreams "The New Yorker" or the "New w***er" what ever you like to call it.

I really don't know what to make of this one acker.

Others in the thread have suggested Callan be given the boot, I merely stated that he is worth working with because he was good before his hammy. At the end of the day, players marking small forwards live and die by the contribution made by that small forward. His opponent kicked three and I reckon he would be a bit disappointed about it, but that's a small defenders lot. As long as he improves over the next couple of weeks leading up to finals then I think he will be an asset to the team.

I also agree that Murphy has been showing signs that he is struggling, every supporter would concede that, and IMO he hasn't been working hard enough both ways. I also like some of his articles, and don't like the others, but it's great we have a regular columnist in our team. I buy The Age, it's better than the Herald Sun, more words, less pictures.

He never does.

West is not ready. Give him 3/4 of a game in the VFL and see how he is the week after.
IN:
Skipper, Higgins
OUT:
Hill, Johnson
Johnson, while he has been playing good, I still think he may be carrying something. Don't want to be carrying niggles into the finals, especially our captain who we all know can be so dangerous. Give our forward line some height too, even if it may only be fore a week.
Higgins looks right, so why not give him a few games before finals.

Is West is not ready, Skipper really isn't either.

Did you see the vison of West on TV foss

He looked like he was 76 years old and moving as fast

I say
In Skipper Everritt
Out Callan and Ward

Real smart Fred Cook. Have a look who we are playing this week.

You want to drop Tim Callan - so who plays on Jetta, Lovett, Monfries, Lonergan, McVeigh?

Then you want to bring in two talls in Skipper and Everitt when Essendon have lost Fletcher and Hille with Lucas already out!

Idiots...

Idiots...

Oh ok Genius

Did you see the game on Saturday night

Callan got smashed by a complete hack and you want top play him on one of the bombers fowards "please"

I noticed you stated all the outs

You might want to go and to some research and see who is in for the bombers, not to mention Lyold, to name a few

another statement about pace

Thats something Callan just oozes with :)

Everitt is the future Callan isnt

His opponent while kicking 3 goals only had 4 kicks...I wouldn't say he got smashed.

Once again your pointing fingers but coming up with no solutions. If Callan goes out, who plays on Jetta, Lovett, Monfries, Lonergan, McVeigh???

Callan is going to have to take either Rioli or Osborne come week one of the finals so he may as well get some game time leading in.

Remember before he went down he was fantastic in the first 8 rounds on players like Davey, Buchanan, Milne, Campbell and had well and truly beaten Rioli when he got injured in the last quarter against the Hawks.

Why would be bring Skipper in to play forward when we already hav Minson down there? That means another big slow bloke, less speed and less forward pressure on the way out? Skipper has only played two games back for Willi and not only lacks fitness but has the turning circle of a 70yo...

Can you think logically please instead of just throwing ridiculous things out there for the sake of it!

This may come back to haunt me, but:
Minson was never never ever going to be an AFL full forward, or even a good VFL FF.
Skipper has been a better FF at both AFL and VFL than Minson. His best
has been much better than Minson's best and his worse probably about
the same. So why wouldn't you give Skipper a go?
Forget about West this week. He can't run at all.
Not sure if Higgins is ready.
Everitt has done nothing this year to deserve a senior game.
If Higgins comes in then Ray should go out.
That's the way I see it.

Nobody is trying to make Minson an AFL full forward, he is there simply to make a contest and take a mark for short periods while resting in the ruck to give us something long to kick to if needed.

Given he is the better ruckman out of him and Skipper, especially against the Hawthorn 'monsters' in Campbell and Taylor, there is no point putting Skipper in.

As i said earlier, his fitness is no where near ready yet and if he doesn't mark it he may as well be a cardboard cut out when the ball hits the ground.

We need a FF up to AFL ability.

If Minson isn't going to be that guy, is he an AFL level ruck? If not - get rid of him.

No point having a guy that's OK at a couple of positions but not great at either.

Consider Welsh the FF and Minson the FP giving us a contest and you have your FF up to AFL ability.

He's purely there as the get out clause when we don't have an option to spot up and want the ball on the deck where we have the edge. Any marks / goals are a bonus.

I saw people saying Ray should get dropped in another thread. Thought i'd check in here to see if there were many other people thinking the same. It appears that there are.

He played on Travis Johnstone, one of Brisbane's most dangerous mids, probably their best ball user, and a quality AFL player for a decade. Ray kept him to 13 possies and got 22 of his own. If you think Ray should be dropped, you have lost all ability to assess his performance, and a merely falling back on your inaccurate, pre conceived ideas about him.

Correct.

The same could apply to Gia and Eagle, although they seemed to have been spared the same old bashings they cop most weeks.

Yes, a couple of bad run downs and suddenly the microscope intensifies. Personally feel Ray has had a very good season considering he missed a bulk of it and was obviously well held back in his preparation. Still get a few things he needs to work on, but for a 22 year old, he's going ok at the moment. I'd certainly be leaving him in the side in the lead up to the finals. He was one of our best in our first final 06.

Name me the last Flag won with a average "rotating ruckman" and a 6.2" FF. I dont think I can remember one in the modern era. If you have a great marking FF and a 6.4" FP then maybe a yes.

"Get out of jail" FF wont win ya a flag. You need a FF that can mark and kick goals on a regular basis.

I would leave the team as is.

I think that you should be looking ahead and rest Cooney, Johnson, Hudson, Ray, Gia, Lake, Welsh, Minson and Aker. :D

WE are gone and cant even field a side so why put these blokes out there when they might get injured and miss finals. :D

Look at how our 2's and 3's went against Willy on the weekend, you could almost play them against us at the moment.
