The Suns v Collingwood game is now sold out! this will always be the case when te pies play the suns at the gold coast Collingwood have the biggest following in qld out of all the victorian clubs! expect 10-15,000 pie fans at the game!

a trip to the gold coast during the cold melbourne footy season with a mate or two sounds very appealing...

"WHO WOULDNT WANT TO BE THERE"
Well, about 3000 people who had tickets. Perfect night. Grand opening.... Not interested...
Even less will attend GCS v Pies.
Guys, the lesser teams will get below 10k.
I give GCS (AFL) credit. They own/manipulate/buy media and government on a scale that is frightening for all other sports in Australia. However, wide spread interest within the community simply is not there. Qlds do not know who these guys are.
Even Ablett is living in relative annonymity.

Dunno if it's been answered yet but why doesn't the grandstand go around the whole ground?

Considering the Melbourne Storm are still regularly getting small crowds even though they have been around for something like 13 years and have been very successful on the field i think we should give the Suns a few years to properly establish their fan base before we start criticising their crowd figures.

If the Suns are a top 4 side in 13 years time after winning 3 premierships and are still only averaging a little over 13,000 then we can be worried.

Kneejerk....

Don't know why everyone is going on about 3k not showing up it was a pretty good crowd, theres a million reasons why those people didnt show up such as those seats being corporate seating (like the MCC at the MCG).

I mean eagles games have been getting about 37k and the ground holds about 43k, not everyone can get to the game.

incorrect

If I were you, I'd be concentrating on how to beat Port Adelaide

Crowds against the less favoured teams will be interesting. I'm actually most excited about these games, as there may be a sniff of a win. The game against North Melb in a little while, for example, could be a close entertaining game.

I think 15k is realistic for these games at the moment.

Back in your box!

Can the ground be expanded at the nerang river end where the massive screen is? surely the screen could be moved backwards if expansion took place there? cheers

^ yes, if we get the 2018 commonwealth games, the stadium can be expanded to 40k. What they do with the screen I'm not sure. Up to the club and the stadium management/architects I'd assume.

I feel like i've answered this a hundred times. :p

Looks like I was right on the money. Could have been up a bit more had the weather not been so crap (~18k).
