If this incident involved anyone other than Fyfe it would have got a replay on the TV and that's it.

There'd be half a dozen suspensions a match if that was reportable. If Fyfe gets one, then Gibson should get at least 3 for bumping DeBoer in the head and Mitchell should go for the rest of the season.

maybe you could better spend your night intimately acquainting yourself with ..yourself

Please deal with posts on based their content and not their team supported. We'll take it up with Reep if he oversteps. Personally I think his opinion on anything legal carries a fair bit of weight and is welcome here.

No chance. It's a legitimate attempt to spoil the ball that you'll see multiple times a weekend yet because it's Fyfe it gets spoken about. It's starting to reach Ballantyne levels of hysteria.
Yes, because it's Fyfe and afl.com.au have already made a big deal about it, making sure it doesn't get missed. They are watching his every move hoping he stuffs up eventually.

I said it in the Gameday thread that Fyfe won't even be allowed to pick his nose in public without risking the Brownlow medal.

Yeo got a week for the same thing. But it led to a broken nose, so I think they took that into account even though they're not supposed to.

Under the rules the MRP in fact are supposed to take into account the injury that ensued (though I don't agree with it).

FWIW, I think Fyfe should get off because the the MRP are basically gutless w***ers at the moment and wouldn't have the nads to suspend Fyfe even if it was worthy of it (which it's not). Clearly the Hawks player (can't remember who it was) was shaken up, but not as messed up in the head as the ump who counted 75m instead of 50m and in the end he was fine enough to slot the goal.

It will get looked at no doubt, but I think he'll be fine.

Umm, are you lost? Please find your way out off our board. Thanks.
Hi.....oops wrong board sorry thought I was at west coast with all the Priddis talk.
But since I'm here re - fyfe: think, how could the MRP sweep Mitchell's case under the carpet if they charge fyfe? I think they'll make a big deal of letting Fyfe off to detract from the fact they also let off the Victorian who actually did deserve a week.

Can anyone who has suggested the AFL industry wants Fyfe suspended explain why because I'm not seeing it. He's a star, an ornament to how the game should be played & will make a worthy & popular Brownlow winner if he gets back to top gear in the home straight.

The industry doesn't want him suspended, but the media love the possibility of him maybe being suspended. It gives them something to talk about immediately, and if it did happen, reopens the Brownlow Medal debate, which this year is probably the least interesting topic in football.

Agree. And I reckon he's getting some of the Judd treatment at the moment (apart from yesterday's debacle) where he's often given slightly longer to dispose of the ball than other mere mortals. I hope it lasts.

Seems like the AFL website cant do enough to bring attention to it. Any other year it would have been dealt with and finished on field but after the Yeo incident early this year it could be on the radar.

If it is hopefully its just a fine.

The AFL have created this atmosphere where fans and media alike are watching games with the MRP in their heads. It's terrible and really the only reason media types like Jon Ralph have a job. I mean who is he to judge at half time of live games?

He'll be OK for a clumsy spoil, but the deliberate kneeing tactics by Mitchell is right dog act and someone should belt him for it. Why would a decent player go about it like that? and should be bring in Crowley at finals time to put the clamps on Mitchell (considering he does whatever he wants when not tagged)?

I must be the only person who thinks there was nothing wrong with what Mitchell did. He wasn't looking at Fyfe and it looked to me like a natural stride rather than sticking his knee out.
Your blind. He wasn't looking at Tex either, it's part of the tactic. You would think a small player like him would step left or right, he's able to do it when he has the ball...

Live I couldn't see what the fuss was about; the continual replays in slow motion made it look worse.

Hopefully Mitchell gets taken care of at the next local dwarf tossing contest.
