Is Josh Kennedy the best tall forward in the game?

Kennedy kicks 4, away, against GWS who are 2nd, in a team that kicks 9 - and it's a bad day?

Forwards need to be getting possessions up the ground, not kicking goals apparently according to Superstar Swan :drunk:

Didnt say kennedy played a bad game, just didnt get a lot of the pill....if u kick 4 goals great however if your missing shots on goal or gettinh shut out, only getting 9 touches means u really havny helped ur team alot.

Kennedy is in his prime and is in great goal kicking form, however beyond kicking goals he is limited. As he gets older he will be largely useless, whereas players like buddy and riewoldt are able to extend their careers by moving up the ground....injuries permitting of coarse

Alastair Lynch did alright playing as a stay at home full forward.

Lasted longed than Riewoldt. I mean this doesn't even make any sense. The stay at home full forward is going to be less effected by aging than the centre half forward who has to be mobile.

So many contradictions in this post I don't know where to start. But I guess, in essence:

- 4 goals is 4 goals. Especially when we barely kicked double that.
- A forward's main job is to kick goals. Period. You don't get premiership points for having the most players with 30 disposals.
- If anything a less athletic player would have a longer career as soft tissue injuries would be less likely to hobble them prematurely

So outside of kicking a shit ton of goals, our full forward is limited :drunk:Next you'll say our backline is limited because it doesn't kick goals.

Also, Kennedy can and does go up the ground if he's not getting the ball delivered well, and knows how to pressure the opposition. If we unearth a better full forward, I have no doubt he could adapt to CHF and roam up the ground.

We will just have to see, kennedy kicked more goals last year but buddy is likely to kick more this year and wins more of the ball

Who cares about coleman, buddy will kick more goals than kennedy this year because his team is playing finals

Forget the goals, how many more disposals.

That's the measuring stick of a good forward supposedly.

I really can't see how Kennedy isn't the best tall forward in the game right now. Franklin has not played at the same level as him over the last few years. If Kennedy had played out the whole season I reckon no one would even be arguing about it. He probably would have ~80 goals.

Franklin gets hyped more because he's an exciting player that can do the miraculous. However Kennedy is extremely consistent and reliable and he's just really good at doing the things a key forward is normally known for: getting separation and marking on the lead, kicking straight and taking contested marks.

Why are Sydney fans melting in here? Almost like they can't appreciate other players being good.

We get it, you have Franklin, yep he is a great player.

Once upon a time, there was a season played where two players (both greats of the game) put up these numbers:

Player A:
102.45 in 23 games
249 disposals
132 marks
12 Tackles

Player B:
82.55 in 25 games
486 disposals
200 marks
31 tackles

Which season do you think is lauded as one of the most dominant ever played? And rightly so?

This is one of the most bizarre posts I've ever read.

If Franklin was averaging twice as many possessions as Kennedy and 50% more marks you might have some sort of argument regarding the goals. But if Carey had of only had 350 possessions and 138 marks that season, do you think they would have thought he was having a better season than Dunstall (that's the equivalent of Franklin's possessions/marks compared to Kennedy)?

Both Josh and Buddy are getting on, the wind whispers Hipwood. So clever, so mobile, a left foot so lethal, both on ground and in the sky, Hipwood is supreme.
