I was reading the news this morning and a thought came into my head that maybe there is a firey and vengeful god, dealing out justice.

I wouldn't venture down that path, myself. Australia's been a willing cohort in more than a few examples of belligerent U.S foreign policy decisions but to view Ash Wednesday (1983, South Australia, Victoria) Black Saturday (2009, Victoria) or Black Summer (2019-20, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia) as some sort of 'divine punishment' is, even going beyond the debate over the existence of the 'divine' in and of itself, a bit shit.

Nobody of consequence is ever harmed by these events, only ordinary folk and the wildlife that call the bush home. If The Divine can throw lightning bolts at will why do the guilty escape harm continuously?

And THEN you get to this kind of social commentary

1. The survey is probably a method to direct the propaganda assault....or to find out whether there's an underlying problem. I dont think most australians even care about the kids being murdered in gaza.

It just dawned on me that penny wong is the foreign minister but she isnt going to israel to placate those in charge. People might argue that the israeli foreign minister was reportedly yelling at her a few weeks back, and albo doesnt want to bait the lions.

But I think she might be gone ....professionally. She done....finito... contrast her situation with anthony blinken who was popping into jerusalem on a regular basis. Penny just doesnt cut the mustard.

Now we could move mark dreyfus but he'll be needed to oversee the changes to the antisemitism legislation. So I have a couple of suggestions.

Josh Burns. Say no more. With years of experience, he's almost too qualified for the position.
Mike Freelander. Not a standout candidate but I really think he could do a good job.
Michael Danby. What a shame this excellent candidate has left parliament. He has shown a proven capacity to deal with Australia's most important allies. Maybe we can convince penny to leave parliament to get him back

anyway it seems that the Lancet has done a study and found that its likely that about 65K to 70K palestinians have died in gaza...

I wouldn't want to mislead people so I found out two pieces of extra information

The Lancet noted that its estimate does not include thousands more people still believed to be buried under rubble, or those who have died from a lack of access to food, water or medical care during the war.

The Lancet only estimate the dead to June 2024.......so the israelis have done a lot of good work since then. I think we might be able to get to 100,000 soon.

You'd love to see the israelis allowing people in to get the real figure. Then all of israel could rejoice. A bit like Smudge reaching 10,000 runs.

There's been cases where IDF soldiers have been on holiday in foreign countries and the locals have tried to catch the weak pricks for their terrorism in gaza.
