Hows McCough, Stone and Mullins going Joffa? Your recruiting guy is so good that you trade away your picks.

Must be the best job in the AFL, do nothing and get paid. Well maybe Balmey has a better deal as he gets paid more.

Mcgough was back up in at 46, Stone was rookieselection and was only elevated because of a lot of key tall injuries

But Just to illustrate the difference between St Kilda and Collingwood

In 99 you took the carbon rod at 1 and Stone at 7 round, well done

good pick up imo, has had some AFL experience shown some promise though still young so hopefully will be good for us.

A friend in Adelaide tells me that the Crows rated Watts fairly highly and that the talk of him not being able to make crows team despite weak forward line are mainly due to Neil Craig finding a good structure for their type of play and keeping that list injury free but Watts wasnt ever too far from being selected

BTW with trading picks you never know what your gonna get when you draft these kids even early picks have produced fair share of duds.

Welcome to the saints, Fergus!

St. Kilda probably made the wrong decision. It's got alot of depth now in its forward line, expecially with Riewoldt, Gehrig, Hamill, Koschitzke and now Watts as the key forwards. Pick 17, St. Kilda's First round draft pick is no longer there best pick, and they now have an over-crowded forward line.

See, the deal is probably right in itself, but St. Kilda weren't the team best suited for it.

Shhhhh, Joffa will not be happy with you.

With Jones gone, Peckett and Thompson probables, Harvey and Powell on thier last legs it is pretty obvious that their midfield rotation will be pretty weak, throw in a few injuries to their front liners and they may have real trouble winning the ball from the guts and running to from the back line.

Swans smashed them in the midfeild due to superior run in the last which was due to deeper rotations.

crows got ripped off, even though watts has done nothing. a developed tall fwd, however slow or unagile (is that a word??) he is, he is worth a 2nd round pick and a descent player or a top 15 first round at least... but being a sts fan, i dnt care unless the number 17 pick turns out to be a superstar
then we trade watts out of anger after 2 years!! :D

Collingwood - National Draft 1999
1. Josh Fraser - Murray U18
7. Danny Roach - Tasmania U18
82. Nick Stone - Prahran U18

Since 1998, Collingwood have recieved Shane Wakelin (via draft) from St.Kilda, while you have got (via draft) Tony Francis, Damian Monkhorst and Mark McGough.

Now, there is the difference between St. Kilda and Collingwood!!!

I don't know...The crows got a first round draft selection, while St. Kilda have 5 key forwards, Watts, being the worst (so there is depth), so the Saints eventually may get not as much use out of him.

Kosi has to play in the ruck now after this signing, he has no choice now.

Don't forget that pick 17 is actually the 23rd pick in the draft after all the priority picks are chosen.

Despite what others have posted here our fwd stocks are not that great once you take Gehrig out. He's apparently decided to go on in 2006 but our core group will still be in their early 20's come 2007-2008. To have another big unit to slot in is very handy.

Judging by the spite that crows fans are showing here, they're obviously a bit upset to lose Fungus... maybe he has a bit of talent after all.

Saints fans wouldn't be as upset if Barry Brooks left!

Bringing up Monky & Tony Francis is clutching at straws a bit!

They were both from the Tim Watson era, that none of us like to talk about. Although Timmy the blinking newreader did deliver us the 2000 draft (Nick & Kosi) & set up 2001 & 2002!

It's pick 17 mate, not 23.

No, it's weird but pick 17 is actually the 17th pick in the draft. ;)

(It already includes the priority picks - of which there are 3, not 6)

!
We have never said he doesnt have talent and yes we are angry. We know in our hearts recruits go home... all we ask is one of 2 things fair trade value or fair service. Kane Johnson and Tyson Stenglein are 2 prime examples of fair service and they are still adored at the AFC... I doubt Fergus will be held in such high esteem

Ferg was a class above at school level playing with Wesley, and dominated at TAC cup level and then with Vic Metro. Knowing him from school, being a very social guy, I don't think Adelaide was ever going to suit Ferg. He's always been a massive Saints supporter, close personal friends with many players, even had one or two live with him, not to mention his father Jim being on the board.

I have a feeling you are yet to see the real deal, and the next 3 years will prove that he is definitely worth pick 17.

If Watts is worth pick 17 then McDougall must be worth pick 5, St Kilda got royally screwed on that deal.
McDougall is as soft as my arse cheeks!

Couldn't get a game in a weak forward line BAHHHHHHHHH
