Keeping Soldo is a good move imo.

He was the #1 tap to advantage ruck in the entire league IIRC prior to his knee injury. Not saying he's the #1 ruck coming into next season, but he is valuable depth at the very least.

I didn't think Sweet was as amazing as others claimed this year (my personal thoughts is many people overrated his performances due to how bad the ruck play has been at our Club for quite a few years), so I won't be surprised if Ivan gets a solid run at it again next year provided he stays healthy.

I thought he was the better ruck of the two prior to his injury. Also thought his effort was good in most matches. Was surprised to see Sweet step up like he did but was rapt. Agree that we compare performance to previous years where our rucks were terrible..

The problem I have with Soldo is from the outside it looks like he's disrespected the club with the social media crap I've seen. And his girlfriend, good luck with that.

Sweet and Dante it's just a question of them getting a decent run. Sweet had only played 11 or so games gets a decent run and grows into the job. Goes past Soldo and he's not looking back. Dante is going to get a decent run at some point next year and probably go past Sweet.

Soldo did disrespect the club on the way out and clearly wasn't expecting to be stuck here.

I desperately want Dodson on our list next year and in 2-3 years that is going to look like such a good call. If we do pick up Dodson Ive no problem with Soldo spending the rest of his time at Port on the bench or half back flank in the sanfl.

Having Soldo on our list should not effect our bringing in a A-Grade kid and developing him as a Ruck.

2-3 years from now and we have too many quality Rucks we trade one to Tasmania for Cochrane.

Soldo didn’t have much choice but to eat a bit of humble pie when he realised that Port were going to say no to St Kilda’s offer and no other club was interested.

He should be highly motivated next season, knowing that his AFL could be on the line as he turns 29 next April
